Meet Mumbai's first women fire-fighters who we just can't stop raving about! Mumbai Gets Its First Women Fire-Fighters Swati Satpute and Sheetal Salve are mumbai first woman fire fighters

Don’t be amused if the next time you spot a lady dressed in a red suit on a truck reading – Fire Brigade! She will be there to perform just those duties that the other men in similar suits will do. Meet Mumbai's first women fire-fighters who we just can't stop raving about!

The fire brigade selected its first two women fire-fighters on Monday, after completing a long procedure. The selection session included 800 metres of running, long jump, pushups, climbing and other vigorous exercises. At the end of it all, the two women —Swati Satpute and Sheetal Salve—were shortlisted for the post. Hats off to them, we say!

However, the recruitment process is still not over for the two ladies. Additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said, “They will now undergo a medical check-up. Once the formalities are over, they will be recruited.”

These two may only be the first few of the many women to join in! BMC had formulated a policy for 30% reservation for women in the department. “We have 35 posts,” said a fire official, as per a TOI report.

We think the two ladies have achieved a marvellous feat and we wish them luck!
