Online job search 7 common mistakes by job seekers When creating a profile, register yourself by filling in your details on the job board, then upload your résumé, and finally, write a cover letter. On the job board and in the résumé, it is best to give all the information sought - from educational qualifications and particulars about current and previous organisation/s to relevant personal details of your job search and whether it has yielded any results, which can be extremely humiliating. So, be discrete by blocking your current organisation from viewing your profile online till you get a concrete offer and are in a position to put in your papers.

DESPITE a barrage of online applications from job-seekers through job portals, recruiters are often left with very few ‘worthwhile’ applications. Most candidates commit seven cardinal sins and lose out on a good opportunity.
Sin 1: Application is incomplete Instead of keeping recruiters guessing, as is the case often, do your bit and provide all relevant details. Time-crunched recruiters who are swamped by hundreds of résumés every day, usually end up spending time on applications that are complete, and which do not need them to ferret out information. When creating a profile, register yourself by filling in your details on the job board, then upload your résumé, and finally, write a cover letter. On the job board and in the résumé, it is best to give all the information sought - from educational qualifications and particulars about current and previous organisation/s to relevant personal details. “The biggest blunder one can commit is to send the application without contact phone numbers. We have no way of getting in touch with and are compelled to reject the candidate even if they make the cut,” says Parama Biswas, HR Generalist, BOC India. While filling in particulars, candidates often omit details regarding salary or location assuming that those can be discussed at a later stage - during a telephone or face-to-face interview. This can leave matters to chance and your fate will depend on how the recruiter takes it. While many are willing to oversee it and arrange an interview, some recruiting agencies find this annoying as salary is one of the chief deciding factors. Hence, even if the application is not rejected immediately, it may not be the first preference. As Cindrella Vincent, HR Executive, Praxis Interactive Technologies Ltd., points out, “All recruiters have a budget for each position and not knowing whether an application makes the mark salary-wise, makes it all the more difficult. If someone is already drawing more than the allocated salary, then we will obviously not get in touch with him or her, thereby saving the candidate’s and our time.” Sin 2: Not following instructions For instance, if a recruiter specifies that phone calls are not welcome, it is best to adhere to it. It not only ensures that the résumé reaches the right person at the right time with the right information, but also underlines your willingness to take instructions. Sin 3: Getting generic Job portals give you the option of applying in the quickest manner to all jobs by clicking just once on “Apply” (may be known by a different name across portals). This practice, however, is best avoided. Instead, use the preview option and edit it to suit the position on offer. “It is very important to customise the job application. Many job searchers often send group e-mails and generic résumés to recruiters. This is the worst mistake one can make, and cuts a very shabby picture and shows the applicant’s desperation and lackadaisical attitude. He or she will, in all probability, never be the first preference,” shares Sebastian Rodriguez, Manager Resourcing, Datamatics Global Services Limited. A checklist • Follow all instructions • Fill in all the required information • Do a spelling and grammar check • Give contact details • Add a covering letter with he subject line mentioning the profile • Attach your résumé Features of a good résumé • Do not just narrate your duties and responsibilities in the previous organisation/s, highlight your achievements • Emphasise fitment and value addition to the profile advertised • Pay attention to detail and format it in such a manner that you draw attention to what is relevant for that particular profile • Give all the required information without running into countless pages • Ideally give as much information as necessary to evoke interest and elicit an interview call Though the details you fill in while registering on a job portal and the résumé you upload there will be a broad-based one, ensure you customise your application whenever you apply for a particular position. Go through the job description, figure out the job requirements, and accordingly highlight why you are best suited for the profile in terms of your experience and skill set in the cover letter and/or the comments section. The cardinal rule is to address your application to the right person, mentioning the profile you are interested in and the Reference ID/ Job Code. Cindrella Vincent advises, “Even if a candidate thinks he or she fits into more than one of the advertised roles, the position must be specified. It will show your focus and area of interest as well as how well you understand the job specifications. For example, profiles of writers and editors are often quite similar, so if the candidate leaves it blank, the candidate may not get what he/she prefers.” Sometimes, placement agencies place such advertisements and they do not disclose the name of the organisation. In such cases it is advisable to get in touch with the recruiting firm for information on the position and the organisation before sending your application. Sin 4: Applying in a hurry Organisations hire on the basis of what the candidate brings to the table and not on a first-come-first serve basis. So never rush! Double check your application - details on the job board, résumé and cover letter before sending them. Applications and cover letters filled with typos, accompanied with an unformatted résumés will create a negative impression. “The icing on the cake is of course forgetting to attach the résumé altogether,” says Parama. Such bloopers give the impression that they are disinterested and casual. Sin 5: Getting gimmicky In a bid to attract a recruiter’s attention, many candidates resort to flashy formatting including fancy footers, flamboyant language or even a personal pleas in the comments section. Recruiters do not spend more than a few seconds perusing a CV and only if it evokes their interest are they likely to go through it in details. So ensure smart formatting and the correct choice of words. Sin 6: Not following up Online applications also need follow-ups. For instance, if you do not hear from the recruiter within seven to 10 days, it is best to follow up on your application. However, Sebastian Rodriguez cautions, “Don’t keep badgering recruiters by calling or mailing every other day. Be sharp enough to gauge when you have not made the cut and the recruiters are too courteous to say it directly.” The key is to be polite and show interest in the position while enquiring about your application. In case you do not get any response that acknowledges the receipt of your application, you can try other means of forwarding your application - through another job portal or by directly contacting the appropriate person in the placement consultancy or the organisation. Sin 7: Not blocking current employer It is best to keep your job hunt under wraps until you resign. Firstly, your manager will be displeased if he or she gets to hear of it from any other source. Also, your organisation will assume that you are in exit mode and may leave you out from business meetings and office events. Hence, staying on in that organisation, till a good offer comes up, can become very difficult and may even compel you to take up the first offer that comes your way, even if it is not the kind you wanwt. Also, remember that searching for a job from your workplace is a complete no-no. Most offices, these days, have firewalls which not only prevent access to such sites but also log access requests to those sites and report them to the HR department or the reporting manager. The situation will grow worse if your job search does not yield immediate and expected results - you will be hounded by smug questions about the status of your job search and whether it has yielded any results, which can be extremely humiliating. So, be discrete by blocking your current organisation from viewing your profile online till you get a concrete offer and are in a position to put in your papers.

indian budget 2011 complete explanination explain details

The main impetus of the budget is to improve the growth rate and get it to 9 percent in the near term and to a double digit rate in the medium to longer term. The other two areas of focus are Infrastructure development especially in Rural India and Improving Governance by shoring up Systems and bringing stricter control on institutions.Key points of the budget:
The government is very keen on ensuring that inflation is curbed and food security is ensured for all citizens.
Food items: Since inefficient distribution has been found to be the culprit for the sky rocketing of food prices, the FM has proposed to focus on reducing Production and Distributions bottlenecks. Food, vegetables, Meat etc will show an easing of prices in the medium term future.
Education: A higher allotment of funds in the form of over 24% hike as compared to last year for the Education Sector.
Income tax: More modernization of the taxation system is being mooted. A new form called "SUGAM" will make it easier for small tax payers to file their returns.
A miniscule hike of Rs 20000 in the exemption limit for tax payers has been introduced. The older citizens can feel happy as the FM has decrease the income tax "senior citizen" definition from age 65 to age 60 thus giving a big benefit to those born between 1946-1951. And for those who survive all the hardships of life and lvie to be over 80 they get a higher limit!!
Deduction of Rs 20000 for infrastructure bonds has been retained.
The direct taxes code which has been proposed to be implement from Aril 1, 2012. This has been in the offing for quite some time and is expected to make taxation simpler. The wait continues.
Direct transfer of Cash subsidy to be given to people below poverty line so that delivery of Kerosene, LPG and fertilizers happen in a more efficient and accountable manner
Selling off PSU's: Continuing the focus on divesting government stakes in Public Sector Undertakings the FM has proposed to look at raising Rs 40000 Crores from divestment in 11-12
Foreign Investment: The business environment is set to improve for Foreign companies as the government is looking at further liberalizing the FDI policy. More Foreign Direct Investment can only be good for the economy. Way to go...
Investment in infrastructure will go up since FII investment in corporate bonds has been raised. Better roads, Bridges are on their way.
Housing Loan: Loan limit has been enhanced to Rs 25 Lakh for housing under priority sector lending. Interest subsidy (subvention) of 1% on housing loan has been liberalized. People in the lower financial spectrum to get benefit from Mortgage Risk Guarantee Fund.
Agriculture: Higher allotment uinder Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana of Rs 7860 Crores could see more support for the agriculture sector. Special focus on Vegetables in the form of Rs 300 crore for Vegetable initiative. Agriculture credit too raised to Rs 475, 000/- crores. Happier farmers could mean lower prices for the common man. Focus on Cold Chains and Storage could also lead to efficiency and in return reduction in prices and better quality vegetables reaching our kitchens.
Infrastructure is King: Rs 214000 Crores has been allotted for infrastructure for 2011-12. An increase of over 23% over the last year. We can see better highways and transport systems in the near future which could lead to reduction in inflation in the longer term.
Bring the money back: As expected the FM has taken note of the hue and cry over Black Money. Many new initiatives have been mooted to bring back black money in circulation.
Air travel and Medical aid to cost more: Service tax on air travel has been hiked. Hospitals with over 25 beds will have to pay tax on all services. So those posh hospitals could be giving you higher bills in the coming year.
Bottom line: Overall a very low key budget that has not given great cheer to any particular sector except for Agriculture and Infrastructure. But to give credit to the FM, this focus on these two most critical sectors will only mean that in the longer term all of us get to benefit from better Food stability and Better infrastructure.

Can Pawan Kalyan Take Revenge On Jr.NTR?
Interestingly, both these top stars of Telugu Industry are going to clash once again at the Box Office. Last Dussera season is a nightmare for Pawan Kalyan, while Junior NTR roared like a lion. Pawan's PULI has bitten the mud and was written in the history of Telugu Cinema for its 'utterflop' record. On the other hand, Jr.NTR enthralled his fans and mass audience with that classy look in BRINDAVANAM, making the film commercially viable.

Yesterday, the air was cleared that Junior's SHAKTI is going to rock theatres worlwide on 31st of March, 2011. Speculations were also on a rise regarding the release of Pawan's latest film TEENMAAR in 2nd week of April. Like earlier, both these films are raking tensions in the trade circuits with just a gap of two weeks between their release dates. SHAKTI is estimated to be crossing the records of MAGADHEERA and the trailers of the flick are already proving the substance of the film. Pawan's TEENMAAR is the remake of superhit HIndi flick LOVE AAJ KAL and craze for PowerStar is always on a high despite his flops. So we need wait for a while to find out the real winner and if PK can take his revenge or not!

Music Director's Lover Jailed In Kitchen !
This is the industry talk about the beautiful lover aka wife of celebrated Music Director Chakri. Earlier there were some differences between Chakri and his wife regarding some personal issues and the case was put up in the court as 'harassment for dowry'. After the issue got settled, she is almost limited to kitchen for 24 hours it appears.

A visit to Chakri's recording theatre in Film Nagar shocks you a little bit, as that place happens to be his home too. These days, Chakri is suffering from a black pigmentation on his face, especially in the forehead area and is growin in size like a gas balloon. The reason behind this is said to be continuos intake of alcohol and animal meat. His wife stays in the kitchen always from morning to night to cook all these supplements for him, as per sources. Showing this kind of excessive love may not yield good results, as Chakri's health will be deteoriated in the first place. Limiting wife to just cooking in the kitchen may strain the relation between the couple's already weakened nuptial ties. Its better if Chakri comes out of alcohol and his wife out of that 'jail'!

- These were supposed to be the younger, hipper Academy Awards, the ones that shook up the ceremony's conventions with popular, great-looking masters of ceremonies in actors James Franco and Anne Hathaway, who were unlike the middle-aged comedians and TV talk-show hosts of years past.
But the results couldn't have been more traditional, with "The King's Speech" — a prestigious, impeccably made historical film that cries out "Oscar" with every fiber in its being — winning best picture and three other prizes over more daring, contemporary contenders like "The Social Network" and "Black Swan."
They also couldn't have been more predictable. Front-runners in other major categories throughout this long and repetitive awards season also took home trophies from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre Sunday night: best-actor Colin Firth for "The King's Speech," best-actress Natalie Portman for "Black Swan," and supporting actors Christian Bale and Melissa Leo, both for "The Fighter." "King's Speech" director Tom Hooper, who'd already won the Directors Guild Award — an excellent predictor of Oscar success.
Despite multiple attempts to make the Oscars seem current — including an opening montage that inserted Franco and Hathaway in the best-picture nominees, "Inception"-style, and an auto-tune "Harry Potter" spoof — some of the biggest applause and longest standing ovations were for a couple of Academy Awards stalwarts.
Kirk Douglas delighted the crowd as he jokingly tormented the supporting-actress nominees before announcing Leo as the winner. Once she took the stage, the 94-year-old Douglas remarked to her, "You're much more beautiful than you were in 'The Fighter'" — but then Leo went on to drop an F-bomb during her acceptance speech. It was a rare unexpected moment — but the censors bleeped it in time.
Later, upon the appearance of Billy Crystal — who hosted the ceremony several times in the 1990s — the audience erupted as one, as if willing him to take over immediately.
Hathaway worked hard to keep the proceedings fun and light, playfully twisting in a fringy gown and joking that everyone at home should take a drink when she flubbed her introduction of last year's best-actress winner, Sandra Bullock. Franco, who was also a best-actor nominee for the real-life survival story "127 Hours," had a more laid-back stage presence, as if he's been working on a sequel to the stoner comedy "Pineapple Express."
They were even self-deprecating enough to acknowledge early on why they were chosen to lead the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.
"Anne, I must say you look so beautiful and so hip," Franco greeted her.
"Thank you, James," Hathaway replied, "you look very appealing to a younger demographic, as well."
Still, despite their best efforts, the show was short on surprises.
Besides the four Oscars for "The King's Speech" — picture, director, actor and original screenplay for David Seidler — "Inception" also won four, all in technical categories, as expected: visual effects, cinematography, sound editing and sound mixing. The great Roger Deakins, who was also up for the cinematography prize for the Coen brothers' "True Grit," went home empty-handed once again. He's now 0-for-9.
Among the front-runners in other categories that were winners Sunday night were the latest Pixar blockbuster, "Toy Story 3," for animated feature and "Inside Job," about the 2008 economic collapse, for documentary feature.
At least there were some lively, candid moments backstage.
Portman, who's pregnant with her first child with "Black Swan" choreographer Benjamin Millepied, said she doesn't know whether she's having a boy or a girl, but the baby was dancing inside her during the musical numbers.
Firth expressed some frustration over a new cut of "The King's Speech," which is being re-released with a PG-13 rating instead of an R. The retooled version softens the cursing from his character, the stuttering King George VI, and makes it accessible to a wider audience.
"I don't take this stuff lightly, but in the context of this film, it could not be more edifying, more appropriate," Firth told reporters while holding his trophy backstage. "It's not vicious, it's not an insult or it's not in any of the contexts which might offend people."
Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin, winner of the adapted screenplay Oscar for "The Social Network," had some positive words for Mark Zuckerberg, whose creation of Facebook is the basis for the film. The movie views Zuckerberg from a variety of perspectives and doesn't always place the young billionaire in the kindest light.
"He's been an awfully good sport about this. You know, I don't think there's anybody here who would want a movie made about things they did when they were 19 years old," Sorkin said. "And if that movie absolutely, positively had to be made, you would want it made only from your point of view, and you wouldn't want to include also the points of view of people who have sued you for hundreds of millions of dollars and, you know, had a visceral emotional reaction to you. But that is the movie that we made."

"It's made me a better person. I'm more patient, more accommodating." — Sandra Bullock, speaking about motherhood, on the Oscar red carpet."In a room of talented, inspirational people, what the hell am I doing here next to you?" — Christian Bale, winner of the Oscar for best supporting actor.Notable quotes from the 83rd annual Academy Awards

The 2-1/2-year-old opossum correctly predicted Natalie Portman ("Black Swan") to win best actress and Colin Firth ("The King's Speech") as best actor during a series of appearances on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show on U.S. broadcaster ABC last week German celebrity opossum misses one Oscar pick .

- Heidi, Germany's cross-eyed celebrity opossum, came up one pick short of perfectly predicting top awards at the Oscars, incorrectly tipping "127 Hours" to win best picture, which instead went to "The King's Speech."
The 2-1/2-year-old opossum correctly predicted Natalie Portman ("Black Swan") to win best actress and Colin Firth ("The King's Speech") as best actor during a series of appearances on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show on U.S. broadcaster ABC last week.
Heidi, who lives at the Leipzig Zoo in eastern Germany, attempted to duplicate the success of Germany's oracle Octopus Paul, who correctly tipped each of Germany's matches in last year's soccer World Cup, as well as the final between Spain and Netherlands.
"Everything went to plan," zoo spokeswoman Maria Saegebarth said on Monday of Heidi's TV appearances. "She took as long as she needed to predict the winners, sometimes taking naps."
Heidi became a star in Germany when her photo appeared in the mass-circulation newspaper Bild in December, but her international following has blossomed, including a Facebook following of about 320,000.
Heidi predicted winners from her enclosure in Leipzig by placing her paw on an Oscar statuette with the actor's photo. For best picture, Heidi had a choice of grapes laid in front of placards of the nominated films. Portman and Firth were considered front-runners for their awards but "127 Hours," the story of a man trapped for days in a canyon after a climbing accident, was thought to be a long shot.
A German-made plush toy of the marsupial was included in some Oscar gift bags available to high-profile guests.

Firth's rivals this year were previous Oscar winners Javier Bardem for "Biutiful" and Jeff Bridges for "True Grit"; Jesse Eisenberg for "The Social Network"; and Oscars host James Franco for "127 Hours." (Reporting by Michael Holden and Mike Collett-White, editing by Paul Casciato) That role was a nod to his breakthrough as an actor, playing the aloof Mr. Darcy in a 1995 television adaptation of the Jane Austen novel "Pride and Prejudice." Oscar king Colin Firth says time to turn to comedy

"I want to do comedy," he told BBC radio early on Monday after winning his Oscar late on Sunday.
"I think gravitas is hugely over-egged and I would like to do something that amuses me now, change the pace, change the tone and I think it's time to continue my long tradition of making a fool of myself."
The 50-year-old Briton has already enjoyed success in lighter roles, notably as Mark Darcy -- the top human rights lawyer who is hapless at love in the "Bridget Jones" series.
That role was a nod to his breakthrough as an actor, playing the aloof Mr. Darcy in a 1995 television adaptation of the Jane Austen novel "Pride and Prejudice."
Asked whether his Oscar might help him shake off some of the associations with that role, Firth replied:
"I think Mr. Darcy will be alive and well for the rest of my life. I'd be rather sad to see him go. I think there's a bit of a misconception that I'm disgruntled about the Darcy thing and I'm not remotely bothered by it.
"I would hate to see that tag leave me, so I'm very happy for it to follow me around."
He described the feeling of being on stage to receive the highest movie accolade as "reeling backwards through space."
"I realized when I got up there why some people completely fall apart," he said.
"You're reeling backwards through space. People don't really want to see that, so you have to do your best to do your job with as much as grace as you can possibly muster."
Firth was nominated for an Oscar last year in the same category, for his role as a closeted gay professor in the drama "A Single Man."
Firth's rivals this year were previous Oscar winners Javier Bardem for "Biutiful" and Jeff Bridges for "True Grit"; Jesse Eisenberg for "The Social Network"; and Oscars host James Franco for "127 Hours."

Distance’ is the one-word reason that countless couples have ended their relationships. While being in a long distance relationship can sure be tough, it does not have to take a toll on both of you. iDiva tells you how you can bridge the gap what are the Tips to Maintain a Long Distance Relationship

‘Distance’ is the one-word reason that countless couples have ended their relationships. While being in a long distance relationship can sure be tough, it does not have to take a toll on both of you. iDiva tells you how you can bridge the gap

Stability
Trust is most important to build the foundation of a stable relationship. There should be a level of commitment between the couple even before considering a long distance relationship. Inherent mutual trust built up over time helps withstand any sort of challenges that come along.  An on-again, off-again relationship does not have the surviving power that a stable one does.

Transparency and honesty help a relationship grow and can only happen if there is no game playing and manipulation. A man and woman who are together because they want to be and not because they have to be, share a solid bond. “I have been in two serious long distance relationships and both times I never second guessed my choice because I knew that was where I wanted to be. You learn to live away from the person and cherish the moments you have together. Trust is the one thing that gives you the strength to do that and feel secure,” shares Nidhi Awasty, 23.

Why is it difficult?

Very simply put, man is a social animal and is not attuned to living a solitary life. It is definitely better for a relationship if there is minimal distance. But, if both partners believe that they can see a future together, it is not impossible to overcome the distance. “The hardest part is the physical distance because it gets frustrating when you want the person you love to be around. Of course, you learn to deal with it maturely, but you always miss the person,” says Sanjana Keshava, 25.

There needs to be acceptance of the situation and mutual loyalty, so that together you can come up with solutions to work through the time apart. It might even be harder if the couple isn’t married. “Three of my five-year relationship has been long distance, and there are times when we are miserable because we’re so far away from each other, but we both know that we would be even more miserable if we weren’t together at all,” adds Manini Chadha, 23.

People have differences in temperament. Hence, while some can handle the distance, some cannot. It is not a question of strength or weakness, and you shouldn’t berate yourself if you find that you are the type who can’t do it.  Being true to yourself will save you and your loved one from unnecessary pain and heartache later on.

What you can do before he leaves

Reassess. Ask yourself if you see a real future with this person in the first place before jumping into a long distance relationship. Evaluate the benefits of being with him and ask yourself if you are willing to put in the extra effort. Of course, duration of the time apart as well as the situational circumstances play an important role in your individual decisions.

Define your boundaries. Talk to your partner and decide what is okay and what isn’t when you both are apart. Some sort of rules always help if either of you are feeling alone and vulnerable towards breaking it up.

Communicate. It becomes doubly important to open the channels of communication when you choose to do long distance. This ensures that you stay connected and involved in each others’ lives. You definitely need to brush up on your communication skills because you will have only words to connect you. Work out a plan if you are in different time zones and use whatever technology available to communicate be it chat services, skype, cellphones and texting.

Plan trips. Try and meet as often as possible so that you both have something to look forward to.

Pay attention to your needs. You must not feel shy of your physical needs and deny them. Instead, find more innovative ways, involving your partner to spice up your sex life.

Don’t clutch at straws. If you feel like you have grown apart and the relationship has run its course, have the courage to bow out with no regrets. It is not a good idea to hold on to a relationship only because you’re used to it and it is a habit.

According to Britain's Mail on Sunday, Davis hinted that the couple was trying to make its marriage work, telling reporters, "All I can say is that we are not over."

One of the first things you notice about Kanatal is that it’s tucked away in a little corner of the glorious Himalayan range. There are almost no signboards indicating you’ve reached this nondescript hill station, so you’ll probably find yourself a little lost. However, some of the prominent hotels there, such as The Terraces, have several welcome signs aiding your comfortable arrival. The fact that this is a difficult place to find is a clear indication that it is untouched by the clutches of commercialism and the prying eyes of a large tourist population, thereby enabling you to enjoy the beauty of the place at your own pace.

The landscapes you witness during the seven hour drive from Delhi, via the holy town of Haridwar and the gorgeous valley of Doon to Kanatal are the usual suspects you would witness at hill stations. Narrow winding roads flanked by tall trees, mostly of the pine or deodhar variety, all soaked in breathtaking mountain views. And as you go further uphill, the pure mountain air refreshes your senses. Suddenly, you realise how little you have seen in your own country.

The most enjoyable way to discover this quaint haven is simple—walk. Treks are common here, they not only enable you to appreciate the surrounding nature’s bounty at length, but also it lends the best pathways for you to unearth the place’s hidden jewels. Apple orchards, pear trees, wild flowers, pine cones strewn all over, tiny temples and smiling locals are a few of the many things that you’ll find here in abundance. The flowers bloom during springtime, spreading a colourful glow all around. Winter time sees heavy snowfall here, covering the place is a coat of pristine white snow. You can also visit nearby areas such as the Surkhanda Devi Temple, Tehri Dam, the woods of Dhanaulti, Kaudia and Devdarshini forests.
Many people make this journey with the hope to unveil their spiritual side. And rightfully so. The biggest reward Kanatal bestows upon the wandering traveller is the gift of silence. All too often the clouds descend and lay a resting hand upon the magnificent mountains while soft mist shrouds the valley below. It’s in that very moment when you realise the futility of the spoken word as a smile emanates from within and silence fills the now restful soul.

Kanatal will reaffirm your faith in the simple way of life. Take a walk amid the rows of trees, smell the fragrance of the flowers, lay back and gaze at the clouds passing by for hours at end, imbibe the various sounds of nature, sip a steamy cup of tea and let go of the chaos and clutter of daily life. Kanatal is certainly not an extraordinary destination; it is a simple place with an extraordinary impact. So if you’re looking for a place to have a peaceful and undisturbed conversation with nature, Kanatal is ideal.

Join Willy Wonka, the unusual candy-maker on this fun-filled trip and reconnect with your inner child as you experience surreal chocolate rivers and unending mounds of candies. Chocolat (2000)
About: Juliette Binoch plays the lead role in this movie with such sensitive sensuality that you can equate it with chocolate itself. The story revolves around a mother-daughter duo that moves to a small French village and opens a chocolaterie. In the religious and pious atmosphere of that era, a chocolate shop was unwelcome. Ratatouille (2007)
About: You cannot go wrong when you pick an animated movie produced by Pixar, distributed by Walt Disney. Add to that a fascinating story about food and you are sure to have a winner. This movie follows a charming rat named Remy on the adventures that bring him to Paris. Julie and Julia (2009)
About: Meryl Streep and Amy Adams star in this wonderful movie about two women and their journeys through life in different eras. Everything about their lives is different except for their passion for food. Streep plays Julia Child, a renowned American chef who is famed for introducing French cuisine to America, around 1948-1949; while Adams plays Julie Powell a blogger, in 2002, who challenges herself to complete all the recipes in Julia Child’s first book, in a year. Apart from the glorious food that spans from beef bourguignonne to raspberry Bavarian cream, watch this movie for an inspiring true story about overcoming odds and finding your true passion in life. Foodies must watch because: It’s fun to watch a contemporary woman’s take on classic French cuisine.

Distance’ is the one-word reason that countless couples have ended their relationships.

Why Didn't the New 13-inch MacBook Pro Get a Higher Resolution Screen? There's no question that the new MacBook Pros are blazingly awesome. The whole line has been rejuvenated with Sandy Bridge processors, better graphics and a lightning fast Thunderbolt I/O port. But one thing has been bothering us about the update, or rather, lack of update: The 13-inch MacBook Pro still has a lower resolution screen. There's not even an option for a higher-res screen, like the 15-inch Pro.
Why is the 13-inch Macbook Pro still stuck with a worse screen than the 13-inch MacBook Air?
It doesn't seem to be an aspect ratio problem, the 13-inch MacBook Pro has a native resolution of 1280 by 800 at a 16:10 aspect ratio. The beautifully high resolution screen of the 13-inch MacBook Air has a native resolution of 1440x900 which is, yup, also 16:10 (and the same resolution as the stock 15-inch MBP). We can't imagine Apple needing to use leftover displays because of an over-order from component companies either. They're too competent and agile for that kind of mistake. And finally, updating an LCD panel doesn't seem too hard—it's arguably as easy as updating any of the other internals.
So...what happened? Are they saving it for a future re-design? That seems to be the most obvious reason, since everything else on the Pros, except for the hot new chips and Thunderbolt (which even uses the same hole in the chassis as the old Mini DisplayPort), is exactly the same. But we don't know.
We'd love to hear from you guys on this. If you have ideas on why there's no high resolution screen for the 13-inch MacBook Pro or hell, even a high resolution resolution screen option, please leave a comment or e-mail me here. If you have facts on why this couldn't happen or any sort of evidence, we'd really love to talk to you.

When it launched the Incredible S at MWC a couple of weeks ago, HTC promised the new 4-inch device would be quick to get a Gingerbread update and now it's giving us a definitive schedule for it by saying that Android 2.3 will be distributed to its new flagship phone by the end of Q2 2011. We're not sure four months of sitting by the window waiting for the OTA update to float in necessarily matches up to our definition of "quick," but there are much better news for owners of HTC's older devices. The Desire HD and Desire Z -- both released in September 2010 -- will also be leaping away from Froyo and up to Gingerbread and will be joined by the original Desire, which was announced way back at last year's MWC. That handset was essentially HTC's own-brand Nexus One, so we already knew it was capable of running Gingerbread, but it's still rare to see a device go through two significant Android updates (the Desire began life with Android 2.1). All these old Desires are placed on the same update schedule as the Incredible S, whereas the newly announced Desire S and Wildfire S will ship with Gingerbread preloaded.

The action fantasy "The Last Airbender" — about people who can command fire, air, water and earth — now controls something else: the Razzie awards for Hollywood's worst film achievements of 2010.
"The Last Airbender" led Saturday's Razzies with five awards, among them worst picture, worst director and worst screenplay for M. Night Shyamalan.
The movie also received Razzies for worst supporting actor (Jackson Rathbone, who was cited for both "The Last Airbender" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse") and for a special award, worst eye-gouging misuse of 3-D.
A spoof of the Academy Awards, the Razzies were announced the night before the Oscars, Hollywood's biggest party.
"Sex and the City 2" took three Razzies, including worst actress, a prize shared by co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, worst screen couple or ensemble for its entire cast, and worst prequel, remake, rip-off or sequel.
Ashton Kutcher was picked as worst actor for "Killers" and "Valentine's Day," while Jessica Alba took the Razzie as worst supporting actress for four 2010 releases, "The Killer Inside Me," "Little Fockers," "Machete" and "Valentine's Day."
Shyamalan has been on a downward spiral since 1999 Oscar best-picture contender "The Sixth Sense," which earned him directing and writing nominations at Hollywood's highest honors. He won Razzies as worst director and worst supporting actor for his 2006 fantasy flop "Lady in the Water."
Despite terrible reviews, "The Last Airbender" managed to find a decent audience, pulling in $300 million worldwide at the box office. Shyamalan adapted the movie from the animated TV series "Avatar: The Last Airbender."
"He managed to take a cartoon property and make it even less lifelike by making it with real actors," said Razzies founder John Wilson. "Most people who like the show, and this would include my 14-year-old son, hated the movie. It made no sense whatsoever."
"The Last Airbender" was among movies that critics knocked for smudgy, blurry 3-D images. The movie was shot in 2-D and converted to digital 3-D to cash in on the extra few dollars theaters charge for 3-D screenings.
"They call it converted. We call it perverted," Wilson said. "The more times you trick the public and charge them that fee and don't really deliver, eventually it's going to be like Lucy and Charlie Brown with the football. Fool me ten times, I'm done."
Wilson said the characters of "Sex and the City 2" were getting too old to cavort the way they do, calling the movie "`The Expendables,' but with estrogen," referring to Sylvester Stallone's tale about aging action heroes.
"Sex and the City 2" also was offensive, Wilson said, showing Parker and her gal pal co-stars disrespecting Arab culture on a trip to Abu Dhabi and flaunting their privileged ways.
"It was released in the middle of a period of American history when everyone's scrounging not to lose their homes, and these women are riding around in Rolls-Royces, buying expensive shoes and just throwing money around like they're drunk," Wilson said.

King George the stutterer seems primed to reign at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night, unless there's a palace coup by Mark Zuckerberg, that asocial billionaire who created Facebook.
"The King's Speech," dramatizing British monarch George VI's struggle to vanquish a crippling stammer, leads with 12 nominations and is favored to win best picture.
Yet "The Social Network," chronicling Zuckerberg's fierce Facebook legal battles, remains a serious candidate for the Oscar crown.

Oscar documentary nominees aren't afraid of BanksyLucy Walker is more worried about gussying up for the 83rd annual Academy Awards than worrying about whether Banksy will make his mark on Sunday's ceremony. The director of the transformative garbage dump chronicle "Waste Land" is among the nominees facing the infamously elusive street artist for the documentary feature Oscar.

  - Lucy Walker is more worried about gussying up for the 83rd annual Academy Awards than worrying about whether Banksy will make his mark on Sunday's ceremony. The director of the transformative garbage dump chronicle "Waste Land" is among the nominees facing the infamously elusive street artist for the documentary feature Oscar.
"I'm a female documentary filmmaker," Walker said Saturday at a posh HBO reception honoring this year's documentary nominees at the Four Seasons hotel. "Nothing can scare me as much as standing on a red carpet next to movie stars."
Other nominees up against Walker's "Waste Land" and Banksy's is-it-real-or-not "Exit Through the Gift Shop" include the Afghanistan war account "Restrepo" by Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger and the financial meltdown tale "Inside Job" by Charles Ferguson and Audrey Marrs. Partygoers were buzzing that Oprah Winfrey would be presenting their awards.
"What's happening this year with documentary films is as exciting as what's happening with narrative films," said nominee Josh Fox, the director of environmental expose "Gasland," which a natural gas industry group sought to disqualify from awards consideration. "If there's controversy, whether that's the gas industry, Banksy or Oprah, it's all good."
Banksy, the mysterious graffiti star who intentionally keeps his identity a secret, apparently hasn't shown up to any of the week's events, including a Wednesday panel of the documentary filmmaker nominees at the Academy's Beverly Hills headquarters and the Independent Spirit Awards, where "Exit Through the Gift Shop" won the documentary award Saturday.
Thierry Guetta, the eccentric Frenchman and street-art fan who appears in Banksy's film, accepted the trophy on his behalf. He said backstage that he didn't know where the elusive director was or whether he would be attending Sunday's ceremony. Jaimie D'Cruz, the film's producer, offered the same teasing statement when he appeared at Wednesday's panel.
Several new pieces apparently erected by Banksy began appearing around Los Angeles last week, though no new handiwork has been posted to his web site since earlier this week when two murals by Banksy were spotted in East Los Angeles and a tank tagged with the phrase "It looks a bit like an elephant" was glimpsed off the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica.
Other attendees at Saturday's documentary soiree included several short documentary contenders. Among them were "Poster Girl" star Robynn Murray with filmmakers Sara Nesson and Mitchell W. Block; and "Killing in the Name" director Jed Rothstein with Ashraf Daas, the film's subject who lost over a dozen family members in a 2005 terrorist attack in Jordan.

Other stars rehearsing Saturday included Justin Timberlake, Sandra Bullock, Javier Bardem, Mila Kunis, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Josh Brolin, Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Jackman and Reese Witherspoon. Even co-host Anne Hathaway got into the casual rehearsal vibe. In jeans and boots, with no makeup and her hair loose, she breezed onto the stage holding her boyfriend's hand — then bumped right into Witherspoon.   Hilary Swank was feeling a little height-challenged at Oscar rehearsals.
She'll be presenting the best director award alongside last year's winner, Kathryn Bigelow, who stands a statuesque six feet, so Swank looked to her shoes for help.
"I need 10-mile-high shoes so I can remotely come close," she said, toting a Gucci shoe box onto the Kodak Theatre stage on Saturday.
She traded her flat boots for spiky stilettos before stepping out to rehearse her lines. Meanwhile, Bigelow swapped the sneakers she arrived in for some strappy gold heels.
"Oh my God, we're wearing the same shoes!" she said to Swank.
"I am going to be standing with the best posture ever," the actress said.
Swank was tickled that her bedazzled shoes seemed to match the crystals embedded in the Oscar stage, so she set a lone stiletto down and had her boyfriend, Jon Campisi, snap a quick photo. Then she went back to flats.
Like most of the A-listers at Academy Awards rehearsals, Swank and Bigelow dressed down — with the exception of their feet, of course. They were part of a parade of stars who came through the Kodak Theatre to run through their lines for the big show, presenting awards with fake envelopes, fake winners and even fake Oscars.
But many women opt for their real show-day shoes.
Oprah Winfrey arrived in black flats and carried her dress shoes on stage in a red cloth bag. By the time the media mogul made her entrance, she'd switched to the towering silver heels.
"Boy, that's a long walk," she said as she strode to the microphone at center stage.
Amy Adams allayed her footwear fears by practicing walking down the staircase she'll use to make her entrance Sunday. Cate Blanchett also wore a pair of super-tall heels.
With the theater empty save for a few dozen stand-ins and show workers, stars can relax, and even goof around, as they prepare for Hollywood's grandest pageant.
Tom Hanks announced the winners in his category by saying, "And the fake Saturday morning Oscar goes to..." When stand-ins approached the stage to accept the trophy, he said, "Here come the fake winners now!"
Helen Mirren had a little fun with Russell Brand as they practiced their presentation. When a pop-up microphone emerged from beneath the stage, she warned playfully, "Don't stand over that, Russell."
Jennifer Hudson brought her baby boy along, who called out, "Mama!" when he saw her on stage.
Nicole Kidman, decked out in a red lace dress and matching pumps, spotted her front-row seat in the audience from her position on stage. But she had a little trouble when it came time to announce the winner of the category she was presenting: She looked to her partner for the envelope, then realized she was holding it.
"I'm going to get this down," she said. "Don't worry."
"This is so much fun," Hathaway said. "We are so excited."
Then she bounded down the stairs and disappeared into the theater.

Getting to know Amy Adams interview

Amy’s most recent accomplishment has come with her being nominated for the Oscars for her role in The Fighter (2010). She was earlier nominated for the Golden Globes for her work in Enchanted. She had received critical acclaim for her poignant role opposite Meryl Streep in Julie and Julia.

Amy was born on August 20 1974 in Vicenza, Italy to American parents, her father was in the Armed Services and was stationed there. She’s the middle child in a family of seven. And at an early age, she studied singing and took ballet lessons and was active in regional theatre. In 1999, Amy made her film debut in a satiric comedy Drop dead gorgeous. But her breakthrough role did not come until 2005 when she starred in the independent film Junebug. She also appeared with Leonardo Di Caprio in Catch me if you can as his dim-witted girlfriend.

Are you a romantic?
I am a romantic at heart, I’ve tried to be cynical and it just really doesn’t work for me.

So, do you think love is simple?
I think love is simple and life is complicated.

How has fame affected your life?
It hasn’t effected my day to day life; if anything, I have become less self-centered because  you know nobody works harder than an unemployed actor, so I’m getting to now focus on relationships in a way that I have never been able to. I am getting involved with charities and I think that the opportunities that I’ve had have really grounded me. I don’t have that sort of hunger that a non-working actor has.

What are the charities you are involved with?

I’m working with the children’s defense fund and exploring other areas.

You’ve been engaged for a while. How has it been?
Well, his name is Darren LeGallo, he’s an actor and an artist. We met in acting class in 2001 and we’ve been together eight years now. He’s great and has stuck with me through all my ups and downs. I’m also stubborn and feisty and he puts up with that as well. Though we are in the same profession, Darren is not competitive and has stood by me through the Academy Awards nomination with no amount of jealousy. I just couldn’t have asked for a better partner, he’s kind and he rubs my feet! I love a foot rub and a dance.

How would you describe your journey to this point?
I’ve had a typical journey to a very extraordinary place, and we’ll see how long I’m here and for how long good fortune keep coming my way; but I know that I have many ups and downs ahead. My journey is just like any body else’s, you struggle and you fail and you succeed; the only thing is I’ve done it in public.

Where do you see yourself headed and do insecurities bother you?
There are a lot of areas I’m doubtful about, it’s human nature to evaluate decisions and the path we take. I’m constantly looking where I am at and trying to decide if it’s the right direction I’m on. As an actor and working in the industry, you are constantly under a lot of scrutiny. It’s always a challenge for me to try and remain authentic and stay true to myself and that’s something I’m constantly evaluating; to be able to work against self- doubt, that’s what I work really hard at.

Sensational director SS Rajamouli tried to hide the secret about his Bollywood debut. But B-town sources are strong in breaking the confidential reports because Rajamouli's Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster 'Magadheera' is getting into the news.

Hero of this flick will be Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor to play the 17th century warrior and Rajamouli is retained as director for rebooting of this woofing Rs 90 crore project. The reincarnation theme of 'Magadheera' was liked by many Hindi heroes but finally Ranbir is to become the Kala Bhairava of North.

Accordingly, Ranbir Kapoor is training in sword fighting and martial arts while Rajamouli is closely monitoring the work. It requires a lean look and sober personality to match both the double roles in the remake and Ranbir is convinced about the essentiality of his physical fitness. "Ranbir knows that, he alone can fit the bill," says a source working with the handsome hero.

Although Ranbir is unavailable to comment, when producer of this film Madhu Manthena ('Ghazini' fame) was asked to comment, he broke the ice saying, "it is too early to comment."

TAIJI, Japan - In the fervor of the Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday, last year's winners will be a distant memory. Half a world away in the Japanese fishing village of Taiji, few will ever forget the film that won in 2010 for Best Documentary Feature.
A year after "The Cove" received an Oscar for its scathing portrayal of Taiji's dolphin hunting tradition, the tiny town is still under siege by foreign activists. That's created a deep deadlock with Taiji's fishermen, leading some activists to seek a different tact.
"I'm trying to get a grass-roots movement going in Japan. I've come to realize, you can't show up with a big stick and tell them what to do," said Ric O'Barry, the veteran dolphin activist who stars in "The Cove."
A smattering of foreign protesters has come for years to Taiji, but since the success of the movie the sleepy town of 3,500 has been inundated. The environmental group Sea Shepherd has started a "Cove Guardian" program that brings visitors, new groups such as "Taiji Action Group" and "Eyes on Taiji" have sprung up, and many people have come on their own.
The influx has had little effect. The town's two dozen dolphin hunters, most of whom are gruff ex-whalers, ignore the protesters as unwanted foreign pressure on their traditions, and have responded with elaborate tarp structures to hide the gorier aspects of their work. A rare public meeting between the two sides in November ended in confusion and discord, and town officials say the attention is largely a nuisance.
"We're a small town, we really can't get anything else done while this is going on," said Masahiro Mukai, who normally runs the town's volunteer fire department but now goes on regular patrols to monitor the activists.
So activists like O'Barry are trying to recruit more Japanese to their cause, publishing materials in the Japanese language and holding meetings with those who show an interest. Longtime Japanese activists like Masato Sakano have organized crowded forums in Tokyo to discuss the implications of "The Cove" and the Taiji hunts.
While many in the country feel the town should be allowed its traditional ways, others are coming to Taiji to protest or simply see for themselves.
"A lot of foreigners are helping us, but if we don't do something on our own, this problem won't be resolved," said Yoshiko Wada, 33, a hairdresser who has visited the town six times.
The government permits about 20,000 dolphins to be hunted along Japan's coasts each year. Only about 2,000 of those are taken in Taiji, but it is singled out mainly because it uses drive fishing, in which the animals are herded near to shore and slaughtered in shallow water, as opposed to being harpooned at sea.
This method also lends itself to capturing live animals, because they are relatively unscathed and can be examined up close by aquarium buyers or dolphin dealers. Those that aren't picked are killed for meat or occasionally released.
In years past several towns captured live dolphins in Japan, but now only Taiji remains. So a complete end to the hunts would be difficult, because they have become crucial for the popular and lucrative dolphin shows throughout the country, and captive breeding is rare.
While killing dolphins for food remains a cultural touchstone, the hunts generate far more money from selling live animals. Bottlenose dolphins sold for meat typically go for several hundred dollars, while prime live animals sell for about $10,000 domestically and much more abroad. In the year ending in March 2010, 79 dolphins were exported from Japan for 277 million yen ($3.38 million), the government says.
With Taiji's fishermen unlikely to bend to foreign pressure and the strong ties to Japan's aquarium industry, a quick end to the hunts looks unlikely. Some foreign activists have called for protests directly at aquariums, but others question that approach.
"If we can't shut down aquariums in our own countries, how do you go to the Japanese and ask them to do that here?" said Michael Dalton, an Australian activist living near Taiji.

To the movie industry, the Oscars are an awards ceremony. For the rest of us, they're a show.
So while we couldn't recall last year's best picture on a bet (Cameron's blue-aliens movie? No, wait, it was "Hurt Locker" from his ex!), we savor the memory of Billy Crystal's great opening bits and Jack Palance's one-armed push-ups and brave Christopher Reeve onstage, alone, in a wheelchair.
So, Academy Awards, what are you going to do for us in the three-hour-and-then-some ABC broadcast starting at 8 p.m. EST Sunday?
Nobody's complaining about seeing the likes of nominees Natalie Portman, Amy Adams or Colin Firth in their designer duds and with a potential winner's aura (and, in Portman's case, the unbeatable glow of pregnancy).
But in a year with so many apparent dead-certs — including Portman as best actress for "Black Swan," Firth as best actor for "The King's Speech" and Melissa Leo and Christian Bale of "The Fighter" for the supporting-actor prizes — we need more bells and whistles.
First, there's the all-important theme for the Kodak Theatre event. This year: "You're invited."
OK. We accept.
Moving on, it's going to be cold, at least by L.A. standards, with temperatures dipping into the 40s at showtime. So during the red-carpet parade, look for loyal publicists earnestly guiding starlets out of the chill because why cover a designer gown with a coat?
The show's hosts are a key element and, this year, relatively daring: Anne Hathaway and James Franco, two fine, handsome actors but lacking the standard credentials of their predecessors, whether a seasoned emcee (Johnny Carson), comedian (Chris Rock) or song-and-dance man (Hugh Jackman).
ABC's promotional spots, including one in which Franco puts Hathaway's bathroom-break quickness to the stopwatch test, are a good sign that clever comedy is afoot. So is the approval of Alec Baldwin, who was a hit last year with co-host Steve Martin.
"She's a very smart and talented and gorgeous and funny woman, and he's a very charming and polished leading man," Baldwin said Friday. "They are great symbols of young Hollywood. The show is very well served by having them."
Any hosting advice for Hathaway, who was a best-actress nominee for 2008's "Rachel Getting Married," and Franco, who's up for best-actor honors for "127 Hours"?
"Just go with your instincts, because your instincts are what got you there in the first place," Baldwin counseled.
Hathaway, at 28 the youngest host ever, and Franco, 32, are expected to make a little music together. Hathaway sparkled in a 2008 Oscar duet with Jackman, while Franco practically demanded the chance to sing Sunday, said producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer.
More tunes are on tap with the return of the best-song showcases. The four nominated numbers will be performed by Gwyneth Paltrow ("Coming Home" from the film "Country Strong"); Randy Newman (his "Toy Story 3" song, "We Belong Together"); Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and composer Alan Menken ("I See the Light" from "Tangled") and Florence Welch and composer A.R. Rahman ("If I Rise" from "127 Hours").
The producers have secrets in store, including something they've termed "scenic transitions," with music and images that will take viewers to different points in film history for presentation of the more technical awards.
The best surprises, of course, are the unplanned emotional peaks. One could come courtesy of Annette Bening, 52, nominated three times before without winning, finally earning her trophy for "The Kids Are All Right." Or it could be provided by 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld emerging as the underdog winner for her film debut in "True Grit."
Then there's presenter Sandra Bullock, returning to the stage where she triumphantly claimed her best-actress trophy last year for "The Blind Side" and then, within days, saw cheating allegations surface against her now-ex-husband, Jesse James.
Suspense over winners and losers is obviously a staple of the night. But there's a twist this year thanks to Banksy, the elusive British bad-boy street artist and nominee for best documentary feature for his directing debut, "Exit Through the Gift Shop."
Will the artist who prefers to hide his face from public view suddenly turn ham and appear in front of a half-billion viewers? As the movie academy would put it, you're invited to find out.
