Recipe: Healthy Low Carb Shakes or a Meal on the Run
When you're pressed for time and can't cook a wholesome breakfast, a quick low carb shake can be your healthy meal on the run. Read on to discover new low carb shake recipes that function as well-rounded meals through healthy compositions with a fair percentage of healthy fats, proteins and minimal carbs.

Mentioned below are some recipes to get you started but the real fun is in experimenting and coming up with your own perfect sweet or savory shake for whatever part of the day you need a quick and healthy fix. Simply take all the ingredients mentioned against each low carb shake, and blend them.

Coconut  Avocado shake
1/2 avocado
1/4 cup coconut milk
1 scoop whey protein
2-4 tablespoons water (optional, if needed for texture)
1/2 – 1 cup ice

Chocolate – Almond shake
3 tablespoons almond butter (recipe below –use peanut butter only if you have to)
1/4 cup coconut milk
2 teaspoons cocoa powder
1/2 – 1 cup ice
2-4 tablespoons water

Here is a recipe for home made almond butter:
1 cup roasted nuts or seeds
1 tbsp and 1 tsp of coconut oil
Blend all the ingredients together in a mixer until smooth or, if you’d prefer, leave the butter a little chunky. Store mixture in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator and warm to room temperature when ready to use.

Vanilla Berry Shake
1/3 cup strawberries
1/4 cup coconut water
1 scoop vanilla whey protein
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
sprinkle of cinnamon or fresh mint

Banana Chocolate Shake
1 ½ cup whole milk
1 scoop choc protein powder (whatever you use)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 cup strawberries/ frozen berries and ice
