The Oscars is an event where we look forward to seeing the stars in their glamorous best - tuxes, gowns, jewels et al. That's why this year sure was a dampener. Though Alice in Wonderland, the movie starring this maverick actor was nominated in the Best Art Direction category, Johnny Depp was nowhere to been seen at the Oscar Awards 2011. We wonder what kept him busy...

Also missing in action were Angelina Jolie and beau Brad Pitt. There was much talk about how actor Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes would boycott the Oscar Awards 2011 as it was to be co-hosted by Anne Hathaway. Apparently, they weren't pleased with the way Katie was portrayed by Anne on ‘Saturday Night Live’. We are guessing that could be the reason the couple gave the Oscars a miss!

Actor Julia Roberts who was keen to watch her Eat, Pray Love co-star Javier Bardem receive an Oscar did not turn up for the event either.
