lead actor Akshay Kumar PATIALA HOUSE Will Father son emotions work yet again for Akshay PATIALA HOUSE lead actor Akshay Kumar

As more and more positive reviews start to trickle in (both from India and Overseas) and with the word of mouth being good for Nikhil Advani's latest release, PATIALA HOUSE, one person, besides countless others, who can be expected to be optimistic about the film picking up after a somewhat dull start is lead actor Akshay Kumar. With detractors and critics writing him off, not much was expected from this Nikhil Advani directed film, especially since the way their last venture CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA had been bashed.

However, we were positive that PATIALA HOUSE would work for Akshay and in one of our articles we had explained in detail why we felt that way. One major reason is that in the past the audience has shown that (whatever the critics might say) they love Akshay Kumar in emotionally charged romantic films, and we had quoted names like DHADKAN, AITRAAZ, ANDAAZ, NAMASTEY LONDON etc.

Quite similarly PATIALA HOUSE too has turned out to be a film full on emotions, and predominantly it's the father-son relationship that has charmed the audience. The rapport that Akki shares with Rishi Kapoor is absolutely top class and the father son conflict that has been a favorite subject ever since Dilip-Amitabh SHAKTI days has been handled well.

Our readers will remember the excellent chemistry that Akki shared with Amitabh in films like EK RISHTA-THE BOND OF LOVE and WAQT-RACE AGAINST TIME, where the father-son emotions worked big time in making these films a success. In JAANWAR too it was the father-son emotions that endeared the audience, and although some might counter that in the film Akshay was not the biological father of the child artist, but it was a similar sort of paternal emotions that turned the tide in favour of the film. In fact when JAANWAR had released Akshay was going through a torrid time with his films flopping left right and centre and the film ensured the return of Akshay and EK RISHTA and WAQT consolidated his position further and brought him into the big league.

Here's hoping that PATIALA HOUSE too succeeds in resurrecting Akshay's career, although we feel that he is one of those few superstars who will never fade away from the public memory and will always bounce back just like his good friend Salman Khan did with WANTED and DABANGG.
