Memorable Gifts for This Diwali

Gone are the days when we visited one another with a box of home made sweets. Today Diwali is glitzy as glitzy can get and people spend thousands buying candles, crystal, chocolates, wine and what have you and hurriedly go around delivering them to one another. Most of the gifts are forgotten or stored away and Diwali becomes just another noisy, bustly day in our year,

This year how about saying no to the candles and the crystal and giving gifts that are more heartfelt and meaningful?

1.      If you have a child, spend time with him or her decorating diyas, making cards or a collage of a card. Not only will you spend time bonding, you’ll also give gifts that are made out of nothing but love.
2.      Do something for the poor.
3.      They say the greatest gift we can give to our loved ones is our attention. Take time out to spend with a loved one who you haven’t had time to meet for a while. Make their day special, pamper them with your attention, a nice meal and a gift of course!
4.      Since Diwali is the time to celebrate abundance, prosperity, peace and love, you may even choose to gift special Feng Shui items. Ideal gifts would be the money tree, lucky bamboo, windchimes or an indoor water fountain.

And if you don’t have time to break free from the crystals and chocolates, how about writing a handwritten note of appreciation with every gift you give to add that personalised touch?
