Fortissimo Films has closed multiple territory sales for Kevin Macdonald’s upcoming Bob Marley documentary, Marley, selling the Gong Films/Shangri-La produced doc to Roadshow for Australia/New Zealand, HBO for Latin America and Lusomundo Film for Portugal. Fortissimo Films has closed multiple territory sales for Kevin Macdonald’s upcoming Bob Marley documentary, Marley, selling the Gong Films/Shangri-La produced doc to Roadshow for Australia/New Zealand, HBO for Latin America and Lusomundo Film for Portugal. Kinowelt in Germany and France’s Wild Side earlier snatched up Marleyafter seeing footage at the European Film Market in Berlin last month.
Buyers were also hungry for Fortissimo’s food doc, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, with Koch Media taking rights for German-speaking Europe, Pretty Pictures snatching up French rights, Benelux going to Cinemien/ABC, Israel to Shani Films, Golden Village taking Singapore and Joint Entertainment securing the film for release in Taiwan.
Jiro Dreams, which follows octogenarian sushi chef Jiro Ono, had its world premiere as part of Berlin’s Culinary Cinema sidebar.
Fortissimo also reported strong sales for 678, Mohamed Diab’s drama about three woman searching from justice in modern-day Egypt, with Golem taking the film for Spain, Lusomundo grabbing Portuguese rights and Imovision Brazil securing the picture for Brazil.
