Despite the fact that cricket fever is on with the World Cup and will continue with the IPL, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is mighty excited to see the release of not just one but two of his films in the same month i.e April. While GAME releases on 1st April then DUM MAARO DUM will hit the screens on 22nd April.
"Two films which are very close to me are releasing in a month and I'm excited," says an elated Abhishek. Though both the films belong to the same genre - thriller but Abhishek maintains that the 2 films are as different as chalk and cheese. "The only similarity between the two films is that I'm in them and April being the month of release. No other parallel at all," adds Abhishek.

Further Abhishek also makes it clear that period has nothing to do for a film to be hit or flop. "If you make a quality product, no matter what period of the year it is. People will watch it and we have hundreds of examples to prove that. When 1st IPL came out nobody released the films then RACE came out between the IPL and it was one of the highest grossers of the year. I think it's completely to do with the fact that whether you can excite the audience enough. We are blessed in India that our audiences are so passionate about films. It's almost a part of their daily life where it is very hard to resist watching a film. You make a quality product and release it in any period and it'll do well."

"Even TANU WEDS MANU released on the day of India vs England match where the TRPs were expected to be highest. However the film had highest weekday collection and it didn't affect at all. We have more than a billion people in this country. Not everyone is going to watch cricket. Even if half of them watch cricket the other half will watch the movie which is more than enough for us," justifies Abhishek.

"Acchey time mai releases kar ke itney thak chuke hai ki ab dekhte hai shayad ab kharab mai hi chale," quips Abhishek.

Talking about his upcoming release GAME, made under Excel Entertainment banner Abhishek says, "GAME is a film that I'm very excited about because it's my first film with two very dear friends of mine - Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. We've been waiting very long for the right script to come; I've really enjoyed making this film. It's a genre that I really enjoy. It's a whodunit murder mystery and I always wanted to do such a film and we have shot at some really nice places."

These days Bollywood is witnessing a trend of big budgeted films or films with over the top promotions or big star cast films sinking without a trace whereas small budgeted films emerging as a success. PATIALA HOUSE, 7 KHOON MAAF, etc all well promoted good budget films faired badly at Box-office while small films like TANU WEDS MANU came as a surprise hit. However, the optimistic actor, Abhishek Bachchan hopes to change the trend with his upcoming release, GAME, directed by Abhinay Deo.

"It's always good to change the trend," winks Abhishek, "Like I said it depends on film to film. Our film is not highly budgeted it's very correctly priced. I think a film should be given a chance we can't force you to see our films we can only excite you as much as is possible through huge promotions. Yes budgets do matter if it's safely priced. I don't think anybody is here to just make money we are here to make quality films of which all can be proud of. I really hope that GAME does well and the next time I get to hear that now all big budgets are doing well what about small films (laughs)...," concludes Abhishek on a happy note.
