Things i Should Not Do at a Spa

Things i Should Not Do at a Spa

With Valentine's Day coming up, you have probably booked yourself at your favourite spa to get that glow before your "dream" date. But before you walk in for that appointment, there are some things you should/ should not be doing at a spa.

Check out our spa etiquette guide that will tip you off.

1) Don't be loud: A spa is a place where people come to unwind, to relax. So talking loudly whether on your phone or otherwise, is rude. Likewise, don't be loud if you are talking at the reception either.

2) Switch to silent mode:
Did your neighbour's loud ring tone just have you jump off your desk and exclaim 'what the…'? If you got annoyed by it at your office, it is ten times more irritating when you hear it right in the middle of a soothing back rub. Loud ring tones can completely spoil the spa experience for you and others. So put your phone on silent, or preferably switch it off before your appointment.

3) Smoking is a no-no:
Smoking in public places is against the law. But if you are one of those law-breakers, you might want to remember to put out that ciggie before you walk into that spa. You don't want people coughing their guts the moment you enter.

4) Follow the spa rules: Spas usually have specific rules with regard to requesting for a therapist. You cannot ask for a specific therapist for more than two times consecutively. According to her, most spas have a policy on this. They assign therapists on a rotation. This is done so that the therapist doesn't make any unwanted advances towards the customer or vice versa. You cannot ask your therapist for their personal mobile number either.

5) Inform if late: It is only good manners to inform the spa if you are running late or will not be able to make it for the appointment for some reason. Try to call at least an hour in advance because it causes a lot of inconvenience otherwise.

6) Tip well: Lastly, do let the therapist know if your treatment was good and leave a tip if the spa policy allows you to.
