Offbeat roles will be done by konkana sen sharma, konkana sen sharma does off beat roles

Offbeat roles have always been her forte. And her role, or rather roles, in the upcoming film Mirch directed by Vinay Shukla is another such role on those lines — bold and refreshing.

"The story is about a young filmmaker played by Arunoday Singh (Arjun Singh's grandson) and he comes up with four stories based on four women, I play two of them and Raima plays the other two. The stories are not linked and belong to different periods of time but are thematically linked in the sense that it's about women who shape their own destinies that includes their sex life. "

Given Konkona's National Award winning roles in her earlier movies, was she always drawn to challenging roles that delved into the psyche of a woman? She pauses, "Haven't thought about it that way. Well, may be," she says but the enthusiasm in her voice is unmistakable as she talks about her upcoming film Iti Mrinalini, a Bengali-Hindi bilingual, in which she essays the role of the young Mrinalini while her mother Aparna Sen essays the older role. "It's about the life of a famous actress Mrinalini and the film gets its title from the suicide letter that she pens — hence Iti Mrinalini or yours Mrinalini."

With 2010 almost drawing to a close, what's her action plan for 2011? "I am doing a cameo in Vishal Verma's Saat Khoon Maaf but right now I am on a break. I shall get back to work in the second half of 2011."

Is the break because the stork has come visiting the newly-wedded Konkona and she sighs, "Yes, it's true." And how has marriage changed her? "Marriage, changing me? I have been living with Ranvir (Shorey) for three years before we got married! Also, it's a bit too early to tell. Maybe I can answer this question ten years down the line."
