Best Career Moves of 2010,who made the best carrer of 2010,2010 is best carrer of,

Wondering how everyone around you seems to be grabbing the best packages while you are left with where you started? Sometimes a successful career comes from moving out of your comfort zone with unflinching faith in yourself. Here are five people who took the risk and made their careers turn-around

Julian Assange

Who is he:  Julian Assange is the editor-in-chief of the controversial website WikiLeaks (a non-profit organisation that publishes and reveals private, secret, and classified media received via anonymous sources). All was well, till he was accused of sexual offenses and was put behind bars. He denied the allegations claiming that they were 'politically motivated.'

The big move: Assagne is now out on bail and has signed contracts worth a whooping $1.5 million for writing his autobiography.  The 39-year-old journalist will receive $800,000 from US publisher Alfred Knopf and $500,000 from a British deal with Canongate. Along with this, his deals with other markets will sum up to reach over $1.5 million.

Career lesson: Setbacks should not hold you down.  Don't wallow in the past, the way is always ahead.

DKS
Who is he: The next time your mother nags you for wasting too much time on Facebook, here's an example to set before her. A student from IIT Kharagpur CSE (Computer Science & Engineering), is a Facebook addict who once posted a status - 'Facebook ate 12 hours of my day'. He wants to remain anonymous and goes by the name of DKS.

The big move: While his fellow IITians would drown themselves in books, DKS would be busy solving programming puzzles from Facebook, which would be published on the official page. The harder puzzles you solve on Facebook, the faster are your chances of being recruited by the website. Quite smart, we say!

Bet he didn't regret his addiction when he received a 'join us' letter from the company, with an offer three times higher than the last year's top offer from Barclays.
He received a job offer worth Rs. 70 Lakhs from the website. Left you stumped didn't we!

Career lesson
: If you strive to excel at what you do, you'll be flooded with job offers and money will follow soon.

Anusha Rizvi

Who is she: Anusha Rizvi is a former journalist with NDTV and is the writer and director of the movie Peepli Live.

The big move: Reportedly when she approached Aamir Khan with the script of her satirical comedy he flatly rejected it. However, she didn't give up and with sheer persistence made the movie see the light of day. The movie was so well received that it is India's official entry to the Oscars.

Career lesson: Never lose faith in yourself and persistence backed by passion pays off. Also, don't compartmentalise your talents into set job profiles. Experiment with jobs and opportunities that explore your talent.

Arpita Singh

Who is she: Arpita Singh is a Delhi-based painter who has received several awards for her works.

The big move: The 73-year-old artist sold her painting at a record breaking price of $2.24 million, at the Saffronart's Winter Online Art Auction, and still seems indifferent towards it.  It's not just the whooping amount she received for her painting that awed us, but the fact that the lady has broken two records, with her painting. The work 'Wish Dream,' is not only the highest price achieved by an Indian woman artist at an auction globally, but also a world record price for an artwork sold at any online auction. Left you wide eyed, didn't we?  However, Arpita seems indifferent to the success. She was quoted in the Tehelka stating, "the work is not with me anymore, so I'm not concerned (about the price)."

Career lesson: Let age never come in the way of following your passion, being consistent with your performance and achieving success.

Anil Kapoor

Who is he: He doesn't need an introduction! Did you ever think that that the man who danced to My name is Lakhan would become a favorite among Hollywood directors?

The big move: Anil Kapoor, who just turned 51, made a huge jump into international cinema with his role in Slumdog Millionaire, followed by his role in the eighth season of the action series 24. And that's not it! Anil Kapoor is all set to be seen in Hollywood films like Mission Impossible 4 and Power. We say it's just the beginning for the talented actor in Hollywood!

Career lesson: It's never too late to move out of the box and aspire for a bigger platform. Take the risk and give it your best shot!
