Get THE Look This Christmas

iDiva brings you some simplified beauty trends straight off the runway to get the look right, this Christmas!
Strong Lips

Make a statement this season with a bold lip colour. Make-up expert Kapil Bhalla suggests, “Exfoliate the lip area once a week with a lip scrub to take off any dead skin and nourish it regularly with a lip balm or Vaseline.” According to Kapil, “The colours most suitable to Indian skin tones are rich reds, maroons, plums, berrys, vino, fushcia, deep chocolate and coffee browns.” While going for strong lips, avoid any dark makeup on the eyes or cheeks, or you may end up looking too stark. Tied back hair complements the look.
Try out: Chambor has some shades in deep maroons to nail the look.
Nude Romance
Matte nudes are really big this season. Kapil advises “Moisturise your skin well. Oily skin needs oil-free or water based lotions and dry skin needs richer creams.” A hint of mascara and cream blush with a lip balm completes this look. Make sure you wear some pretty coloured ensembles to not look too dull. Wear heavy earrings or statement neck pieces to create some drama.

Dark Eyes

Instead of following the rules, make a personal style statement with the kohl pencil. Line the upper and lower lids in one unbroken stroke for some drama. Line only the upper lid and leave the lower one undone. Kapil suggests a different way of applying kohl: “Try to shut your eyes when you run the blunt end of the kohl pencil inside so that the colour catches on the top rim too.” Use different colours like black brown, grey or stark black for different effects. Let the eyes do the talking and leave everything else simple.
Try out: Shiseido and L’Oreal have some amazing eye pencils.
Cheeky Blush
Get an even skin tone with your foundation. Apply a rosy pink or burnt plum blush on the cheek bones in upward strokes. If you have a long face, apply the blush in lateral strokes to add width. In case of a round face, apply blush in upward strokes to add length. Since the look is soft and romantic, avoid eyeliners and eye pencils. Kapil recommends, “Blushers in powder form should be applied after the entire makeup is done and if its blushers in cream form, use after you’ve applied foundation and before you dab some powder.”
