Western Digital has begun shipping a 2TB capacity model in its My Passport line of portable hard-drives, with the enclosing shell geting a new finish that is supposed to be resistant to scratches and fingerprints. These 2TB My Passport drives support USB 3.0 (with legacy support), which is a God-send at this capacity. The drives ship with an automated back-up software called WD SmartWare, and the WD Security handles password-protected data access. For an added layer of security, this My Passport model supports data encryption at the hardware level.
The Western Digital My Passport 2TB model is shipping with a choice of five colors (white, black, silver, blue, and red), priced at Rs.13,499, and carries a three-year on-site limited warranty.
