404 Movie Review

404 is a title aimed at today's internet junkies and youngsters. It's intriguing enough to find out why a film is titled so. It's a smart move by the makers of this psychological thriller. Speaking of psychological thrillers, we haven't seen one in Bollywood since a long time. So it's a welcome change amidst the rom-coms and love stories.

The film is about a bright medical student Abhimanyu (Rajvvir Aroraa), who's brave enough to opt for the supposedly haunted room 404 in his college hostel. The room was locked since three years, after a first-year student Gaurav committed suicide in it. And it was rumoured that his spirit was occupying the room. Professor Aniruddh (Nishikant Kamat) is mighty impressed by the audacious Abhimanyu and encourages him to stay in the room, to put an end to all rumours. But things take an expected turn when Abhimanyu starts seeing Gaurav's spirit. Is Gaurav's aatma real or is Abhimanyu just hallucinating This is what forms the basic premise of the film.

Director Prawaal Raman, who had previously directed DARNA MANA HAI, GAYAB, ZABARDAST and DARNA ZAROORI HAI (all were produced by Ram Gopal Varma), comes up with an engaging plot, which is complimented by a compelling story-telling. You are involved in the film and are constantly trying to decipher what will happen next. The astute twists in the climax are riveting and take you completely off-guard. While the first half is taut, the second is a bit stretched and could have done away with a few redundant scenes.

There are ample sequences which are laudable like when Abhimanyu and Aniruddh follow Gaurav's spirit or when Aniruddh breaks down. The background score, though a bit loud at times, adds to the overall impact. Savita Singh's cinematography is good. Sarvesh Parab's editing could have been tighter in the second half.

Nishikant Kamat, who has directed films like DOMBIVALI FAST and MUMBAI MERI JAAN, is a revelation as an actor. He performs his part with great composure. Debutant Rajvvir Aroraa acts brilliantly. He plays his complex character effortlessly. Imaad Shah is wonderful as the nonchalant senior. Tisca Chopra is good. Satish Kaushik acts well and provides the occasional laughs.

404 is a mind-boggling psychological thriller with commendable performances. Don't miss it.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama Movie Review

It seems anti-rom-coms are taking Bollywood by storm. LUV KA THE END released a few days back and this week it's PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA. We're sure it's tag line - Come...fall out of love, won't make Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar and the likes very happy.

First things first. The promos of PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA gave the impression that it's a sex comedy. But it isn't. It's about relationships. While watching the film, one is also reminded of Madhur Bhandarkar's DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI, which released early this year.
The film traces the life of three friends - Rajat (Kartikeya Tiwari), Vikrant (Raayo Bhakhirta) and Nishant aka Liquid (Divyendu Sharma), who are desperate to get girlfriends. Their wishes are answered soon. Rajat meets Neha (Nushrat Bharucha) and soon gets in a live-in relationship with her. Vikrant falls for hottie Riya (Sonalli Sehgal), who still can't get over her ex-boyfriend. Liquid is smitten by his new manipulative colleague Charu (Ishita Sharma), who uses him to get her office work done. As time passes, the relationships of all the tree couples starts getting from bad to worse. Will they hold on is what forms the rest of the story.

The film is an anti-rom-com and director Luv Ranjan rightly doesn't waste much time in establishing the romance between the characters. The initial few minutes of the film are fresh and enjoyable. The problem in the film arises when the couples start facing problems in their respective relationships. All the tracks drag to no end. While the first half is still bearable, the second half just goes on and on. The best part of the second half, infact the entire film, is the 5-minute-long hilarious monologue by Rajat. He perhaps echoes the thoughts of each and every boy who's in a relationship.

Many of the things shown in the film are real are relatable. But they get very monotonous and boring as a viewer. The graph of the film oscillates from being very funny to very clumsy. The film needed to be much shorter, which would have helped it immensely.

The music by Clinton Cerejo, Hitesh Sonik, Luv Ranjan and Ad Boys goes well with the film with Baanware being the best song. Akiv Ali's editing is okay. Sudhir K Chaudhary's cinematography is good. The dialogues are very much in sink with today's lingo.

Kartikeya Tiwari is decent. Vikrant delivers a very restrained performance. Divyendu Sharma is excellent. Among the girls, Nushrat Bharucha is the best. She delivers a confident performance. Sonalli Sehgal looks great but is pretty ordinary when it comes to acting. Ishita Sharma is passable.

PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA is inconsistent and lacks 'punch'.

How to Make my Marriage Work

Even Micheal Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones admit, modern marriages are hard work. So in this fast-changing, globalising world, what does it take to make modern marriages work?

Has marriage reached a stalemate? "No," says Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dikshit Nene, "You have to work on a marriage and keep the spark alive. Marriage isn't about individualism, it's about togetherness. Modern marriages are vulnerable, they need more nurturing. If you shut yourself, there's a problem."

The anti-marriage trend
In her book, The Best Kept Secret, Janet Reibstein writes about the challenges of modern marriage: the tension between individual freedom and commitment, there's difficulty in offering appropriate time and energy to another person.

Says London-based Priyanka Kanse, trend analyst for the future laboratory, "It seems heterosexual couples don't believe in marriage. The faith is being revived by gay and lesbian couples, who are having lavish weddings. By 2026, there will be a dramatic change in marriage as an institution. Society has relaxed its attitudes towards couples who live together. With divorce rates escalating, marriages won't be forever. They'll be more a lifestyle thing."

Energise your marriage!

As living together gets cool and getting married seems a bit of a turn-off, says Anil Dharker, "Marriages are under intense stress. We're redefining new social codes and values. Marriage is about equal partnership."

We know that relationships are hard work. For instance, Nitin Desai, 37, and Tanya 30, have been married for the last six years, they were once in love and are now forever fighting.

Says Psychiatrist Dr Sujata Sharma, "Marriages come under pressure when appreciation and gratitude for your partner disappears. When in conflict, don't be negative, be empathetic, take the others perspective. Anger is based on false clarity, and each negates the other's efforts. There should be earnestness in a couple to make a marriage work. It's very easy to mentally drift away from each other. And sometimes the space can never be filled. Romantic love will fizzle out and the ordinariness of everyday shouldn't cripple a marriage. That's when the spouse seeks emotional attention and quick gratification outside the bedroom. Once the spouse is mentally logged out, it takes a huge effort to log back again."

Historic Tiara Sold for a Record $12.76mn

A dazzling tiara featuring emeralds believed to have belonged to Eugenie, wife of French Emperor Napoleon III, sold for a record $12.76 million (approx Rs. 53.9 crore) to an anonymous buyer on Tuesday at Sotheby's. The diamond and emerald tiara, which German prince Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck's commissioned for his second wife Katharina around 1900, was estimated to fetch $5 million-$10 million.

It was top lot at a sale that netted 78.9 million Swiss francs, third highest for a jewelry sale, with 90 percent of 479 lots on offer finding new owners, the auction house said.

"It is needless to say a world record price at auction for a tiara," said David Bennett, chairman of Sotheby's Europe and Middle East jewelry department, as he brought down the hammer to applause.

The tiara also set a record at auction for a piece of emerald jewelry, the auction house said in a statement. The winning bid was taken over the telephone by Lisa Hubbard, chairwoman of Sotheby's jewelry department in North America -- a hint as to the location of the new owner.

The tiara was among jewels of royal provenance that accounted for 19.6 million Swiss francs of the sale's proceeds, far exceeding expectations, according to Bennett.

"Obviously it was led by the tiara which is probably one of the most spectacular noble jewels we have ever had. The last time it appeared on the market was with us in 1979," he told reporters.

Other Notable Sales

International jewellers Leviev outbid other buyers to purchase an intense pink diamond weighing nearly 11 carats for 9.6 million Swiss francs, the third highest price ever paid for a pink diamond on the block, according to the auction house. Sotheby's sold a pink diamond last November for 45.44 million Swiss francs ($45.75 million at the time), which remains the most expensive stone ever sold at auction.

Its buyer, top diamond dealer Laurence Graff, later named it the "Graff Pink." He also attended Tuesday night's sale. An oval Burmese ruby weighing 30 carats, mounted on a Cartier ring and flanked by pearl-shaped diamonds brought 3.778 million Swiss francs, the evening's third priciest lot. "Throughout the sale, estimates were exceeded by very large margins," Bennett said.

"We had sapphires from a private owner in the sale. They fetched extremely strong prices, exceeding estimates. It proves that there is a market for these rare items," he said, noting that the famed Kashmir mines were exhausted by the early 20th century.
Raju Kothari, a Hong Kong-based trader, said he had bought a Kashmir sapphire and diamond flower brooch for $1.6 million -- three times the estimate -- as well as matching ear clips.

"It is very rare to find a set with the same color stones, brooch and earrings," Kothari told Reuters in Geneva. "The market in China is not fully opened up. So there is a big potential especially for Kashmir sapphires to go up (in price)."

Minissha Lamba Disastrous Cannes Return Minissha looks teary eyed as she comes out of the airport; on the right she is trying to dodge the paparazzi

Petite actor Minissha Lamba managed to turn a few heads as she walked the red Carpet at the 64th Cannes Film Festival. She did look lovely at her blink and miss appearance in a Gauri and Nainika gown. But, looks like her trip to the French Riviera ended on a bitter note.

Not only did she lose her luggage at the Nice airport, she was detained by the Mumbai customs for failing to declare jewellery worth Rs. 50 lakh. The poor thing looked very harrowed as opposed to how excited she looked when she departed for the festival (and she would be too as she was detained nearly for 12 hours!).

Puri Jagannath Mahesh Babu The Businessman Mahesh Babu condition to Puri Jagannadh

Mahesh Babu's condition to Puri Jagannadh
Puri Jagannadh who is certainly not in best of his forms in the recent past is gearing up to direct his next movie with Prince Mahesh Babu in the lead. Although Mahesh agreed to do ‘The Businessman’ movie under Puri direction, he has made it clear to the director that he will only do the film if he comes up with a bound script.

Earlier when Mahesh and Puri worked together for Pokiri, the actor was hell bent about full fledged script. Puri is not known for writing full bound script before going to sets, but he obliged to Mahesh’s condition and the rest is history.

Mahesh Babu has no doubts on Puri’s capabilities but he feels that Jagan can only deliver his best with full fledged script. Hence, he is insisting upon bound script before hitting the sets it seems. Puri generally doesn’t obey others orders but he is not in a position to dictate terms at the moment. Interestingly Puri was running through bad phase in his career during pre Pokiri days too.

Nitya Menon Smoking Hurts Nani Nani Nithya Menon Nithya Menon Smoking Sega Nitya Menon holds a cigarette dignifiedly in her hand before puffing billows of smoke from her red hot lips

Nitya Menon's Smoking Hurts Nani!
If a crush is developed on a girl, any boy turns tough in accepting the negatives of that girl. Same is the case with sexy sensation Nitya Menon and upcoming hero Nani. From a long time, a noise is heard in industry that Nani is going gaga over this young Malayali girl.

Apparently, cute girl Nitya Menon holds a cigarette dignifiedly in her hand before puffing billows of smoke from her red hot lips. Nani is angry over these acts of Nitya and found warning her not to repeat such acts. Much to our enthusiasm, this act happened over film shoot of Nani-Nitya’s upcoming flick ‘Sega’. In a montage bit of a song, the heroine is seen smoking while the rest of her friends laughed to a max. In the same scene, Nani grabs the smoking pipe out of Nitya’s mouth and scolds her not to do such. What comes as a shock is that Nani is behaving the same way even off-screen when there are too many people surrounding the couple. If it is just smoking that hurts Nani, then it is ok. Else, troubles are inevitable for Nani’s over possessiveness about this hot girl in town.

Dil Raju torturing Directors Dil Raju Producer Mr. Perfect Brindavanam Directors

Dil Raju torturing Directors
Dil Raju, The man with midas touch played a big role in 'Mr.Perfect' success. The basic plot of that film is Dil Raju's brainchild ans he also involved in the development of the script. Therefore he is more proud of this film than his previous hits. However, this success is also having adverse affects on his current films that are in under production or pre-production stages.

With his confidence multiplied over his script judgment, Dil Raju started to torture his directors by too much interference, gossip zones allege. He is making many changes to his current films and also disturbing the progress of other scripts with his inputs, they say.

Dil Raju wants to be the dictator for his movies and that is the reason why he ropes in flop directors or aspiring directors to get his job done. Struggling directors never say no to the producer due to desperation and Dil Raju has been cashing on their weakness, is what industry people say about him. His monarchism multiplied with the success of 'Mr. Perfect' and 'Brindavanam', they told.

Nagarjuna Honeymoon spot 'Switzerland' in the name of a shoot Nagarjuna Anushka Nag Akkineni Actress Heroine Nag honeymoon not working

Nag's honeymoon not working!!!
The soothing affection between King Nagarjuna and curvaceous Anushka needs no explanation at all. After a small period of breakup, the two 'friends' met for a patch-up party in 'honeymoon' paradise.

Vacuum is filled between Nag and Anushka after those tax raids that shocked the entire Film Industry. During the same time, Anushka got distanced from this aged romantic hero feeling that he didn't support her to escape the clutches of IT sleuths. However, a re-union meeting between the two happened at Honeymoon spot 'Switzerland' in the name of a shoot. All of a sudden Nag ordered the crew of 'Damarukham' to go to Switzerland for a song shooting. Whole team was surprised when sexy Anushka was waiting for them at Swiss airport to give a warm welcome. Sources say that, things are not okay even after their meeting in Swiss Alps and still there are some differences between them.

Veera carrying negative reports Raviteja Veera Kajal Tapsee Massraja

Veera carrying negative reports!
Massraja Raviteja's 'Veera', which is all set to hit the screens on this Friday has been censored and the first report about the movie is out. This movie lacks the spice, says filmnagar sources. Director Ramesh Varma failed to present Raviteja either in a powerful or an entertaining way, told sources.

Every director who is working with Raviteja in the recent times is banking on his mass entertainer image and making run of the mill films. That formula is proving to be successful at the box office. But, Ramesh Varma('Ride' fame) tried to present Raviteja as a fulltime mass hero it seems. The mood of the film isn't Raviteja-ish, is the initial feedback given by the people who watched it.

Raviteja has been consistently doing well with mediocre films and we have to wait and see if he makes 'Veera' work at the box office against all the odds.

Angry hero Rajasekhar Mahankali What happened to Mahankali Rajasekhar Mahankali Jeevitha Celebrities Actor Hero

What happened to 'Mahankali'???
Angry hero Rajasekhar and his actor-politician wife Jeevitha have become the point of discussion for many idle people in Film Nagar. As a result, the guys are digging into the complete what-to-how of this celebrity couple, who are in a big depression.
Before jumping into full time politics, Jeevitha started a movie titled 'Mahankali' with Rajasekhar playing a sincere cop under the direction of a newcomer. However, the project was shelved in the middle as the director and cinematographer of the project ran away fearing the torture of Jeevitha. Taking this as an insult to her prestige, Jeevitha started directing the flick upon her own. Sources stated that the financiers of the flick walked away fearing Jeevitha's creativity and rough approach. Rather than directing the flick 'Mahankali', Jeevitha felt herself like mahankali (supreme goddess) and its result is now burning the couple.

Richa Gangopadhyay in Perfect hands Richa Gangopadhyay Richa Prabhas Rajamouli Actress Heroine Sexy Heroine Hot Beauty

Richa in 'Perfect' hands
Actress Richa Gangopadhyay despite proving successful with 'Mirapakay', is left with empty hands in Tollywood. Though Richa managed to bag two big projects in Tamil film industry, her Tollywood stint looked like it was ended abruptly. However, the latest buzz says that finally luck shines bright on this broad smile beauty.

According to the sources, Richa Gangopadhyay is roped in as the heroine in Prabhas's next film and what makes her even more lucky is this film would be directed by one and only Rajamouli. If this news turns out to be a fact then Richa has definitely bagged an offer of her life. Remember what Rajamouli has done to Kajal Agarwal who was branded as a B grade heroine prior to 'Magadheera'.

However, Industry sources opine that Richa Gangopadhyay should be very fortunate for bagging such a huge film, despite being not very talented.

Kajal Agarwal hugs Mahesh to survive Raviteja bite Kajal Veera Raviteja Mahesh Babu Businessman Actress Heroine Sexy Heroine Hot Beauty Kajal has signed up Mahesh Babu' film 'Businessman' and the reason for it is certainly not the star value of Mahesh

Kajal hugs Mahesh to survive Raviteja's bite!
Kajal Agarwal is very busy that she couldn't adjust dates for her various assignments in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi film industries. With her dairy jam packed, Kajal is finding it tough to take up new projects. Despite her packed dairy, Kajal has signed up Mahesh Babu' film 'Businessman' and the reason for it is certainly not the star value of Mahesh.

As per our sources, Kajal has many projects on her hand and giving bulk dates to Mahesh will put a heavy load on her to adjust dates for other films. She will have to work round the clock for at least two months to keep all the projects intact. Then why did she take up Mahesh's project that in turn will put high amount of pressure on her?

The reason for it is Raviteja's 'Veera' it seems. This film is surrounded by negative buzz and Kajal who has been running through purple patch in her career doesn't want to lose out on the craze as a successful heroine. Therefore, she has taken up Mahesh's 'Businessman' prior to the release of 'Veera'. Now, even if the film flops, Kajal will have Mahesh's film on hands to sustain the craze. Wow, Kajal has definitely picked up few business tactics and who else can be Businessman's lead lady other than her!

Tamanna Badrinath Allu Arjun V V Vinayak Allu Aravind a female midriff region is called hyperbola Badrinath banks on Tamanna hyperbola

Badrinath banks on Tamanna's 'hyperbola'
Now a female midriff region is called hyperbola, thanks to Sukumar's mathematical brain! In 100% Love he described Tamanna's waist line with a hyperbola and it became the buzz word for Telugu youth. Tamanna who had flaunted her hyperbola in few scenes in 100% Love, is gearing up for more fun in Badrinath.

Director VV Vinayak has concentrated too much on that 'region' and Badrinath promos and photos too are carrying Tamanna's hot pics and videos. If nothing goes well for Badrinath, the makers hope that the hyperbola hypes the film to take it to next level. Tamanna has done two steamy songs in this film in which she has liberally flaunted her curves.

Badrinath is an out and out action masala flick stresses its makers. They don't want it to be compared with Magadheera. Instead they are asking to draw comparisons with Indra, which was a full to commercial entertainer.

How to Look and Act When Meeting His Parents

The thought of meeting your boyfriend’s parents might be very scary for a lot of women. While for some it can be both exciting and promising. But you need to know that this meeting will be a huge milestone in your relationship. Such a meeting gets in positive vibes that your guy is confident about the future of your relationship.

As intimidating as the meeting may seem, it might be a deal-breaker if the parents do not like you. Getting stressed out is the most common feeling a woman gets when she realises that the people his future man holds in high regard, disregards you.

There are some very simple ways to go about the perfect first impression that can take you a long way.

1. Study about them
It is likely that you would know a lot about his parents considering the fact that he would have mentioned the basics about them. But it will be a pleasant surprise for them if you know a little about them like, where they were raised, what college they went to, etc. Show interest in them and ask questions about their jobs, hobbies, and other interests.

2. Pick the right clothes
You should decide well in advance as to what you would be wearing on your big day. If you feel you don’t have anything, do not mind to shell out a few extra bucks to look good but please do not go over the top.
Avoid wearing clothes that you need to constantly adjust or fidget with, and that are too tight or constricting.

3. Give them a gift

You are surely going to win a few brownie points if you gift them something. Anything as simple as a box of chocolates, a bottle of wine or even a plant can do the trick. This makes an immediate and lasting warm impression on his parents.

4. Be ready to answer
You should be prepared that you will be asked a lot of questions. Don’t lose your patience as this is a very obvious and natural process for all parents (be it your boyfriends or your friends). You can expect some basic questions about where you work or about your college and schooling, and also about your plans for the future. Such personal questions can be answered with a polite but generic response, or you may choose to let your boyfriend respond to such questions.

5. Offer to help
You should try and help when you get a chance for the same. If your boyfriend’s mother is in the kitchen, ask her if she needs any help and try to be of help. But make sure you don’t over-do it. Just be naturally nice.

6. When siblings are present
Siblings should also be treated politely and with respect, and you should make an effort to include them in conversations when appropriate. You should be prepared with a few general questions for them as well.

BHEJA FRY 2 wouldn't have the spunk to it if it wasn't for protagonist Vinay Pathak's look and charades. Hence one condition that producer Mukul Deora laid across to director Sagar Ballary was that Vinay, who had lost all the weight post the first BHEJA FRY, had to put on the same amount of weight .

At first Vinay was against the idea since it took him a cumbersome 2 years to shed the kilos but after much convincing he agreed and went on a strict all-carbs diet for 6 weeks to regain the weight he lost.

This April get ready for BHEJA FRY 2 a roller coaster comic adventure aided by bigger budgets and a bigger starcast that promises to be even bigger, madder and funnier than ever before.

Celeb Look En Route to Cannes

A bevy of Bollywood celebrities left for the Cannes film festival. While some like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji made discreet exits, others like Minnisha Lamba, Rohit Roy and Mallika Sherawat couldn't escape the shutterbugs. Take a look at who we caught on camera.

Rohit Roy was definitely caught off-guard by the paparazzi. Don't miss the shocked expression on his face! He must have suddenly realised that he is dressed the part - cool blue jacket and trousers and a LV satchel. Someone's climbing up the fashion ladder!

Minissha Lamba arrived like a Princess. She is leaving for one of the most fashionable countries in the world and bearing that in mind she is all about chic. Minissha determined stare at the camera almost seem to suggest, "Yeah baby, I can outstare a million flashlights. Did you not know that I am leaving for Cannes?" And thus she makes a stylish exit.

The sob story of the night was Mallika Sherawat. You have heard of shabby dressing but then the next level of shabby dressing looks like this! Who wears shoes like that? Considering the size of the handbag, let's hope she has carried some stylish clothes in there for a quick change before getting off the plane in France.
