Kate Wore Alexander McQueen

Kate Middleton wore Alexander McQueen. Speculation was already abound that Sarah Burton, head designer at the luxe British label Alexander McQueen would be designing the dress.

Kate stepped out of the Goring Hotel and into her Rolls Royce limousine in an ivory gown with lace floral appliqué design. The full sleeves were made of lace and Kate Middleton’s veil was held in place with a halo tiara on loan from Queen Elisabeth. It was made by Cartier in 1936. It was her something borrowed.

A Royal Wedding Gown

Kate’s dress has been made of ivory and white satin gazar, with the skirt of the gown designed to resemble an opening flower. Her train is just two metres long.

Sarah Burton’s design of the train and include delicate lace applique flowers, handcrafted using the Carrickmacross lace-making technique, which originated in Ireland in the 1820s.

The media already suspected that McQueen’s Sarah Burton would design the dress when a woman covered in a vast jacket – and dressed in Burton’s trademark style of lose pants and top – hurtled into Goring Hotel.
