Eleven films from Eastern and Central Europe are to compete in the section “New Europe -- New Names.”
The international jury presided by Macedonian writer and director Milcho Manchevski is to award one film with the main prize and two more with special prizes.
Among the section’s highlights are the Hungarian/Polish production A zold s??rk??ny gyermekei (Children of Green Dragon), directed by Bence Miklauzic, Zena sa slomljenim nosem (Woman With A Broken Nose) by Serbian director Srdjan Koljevic and the Czech/Slovak movie Dom (The House), directed by Zuzana Liova.
The section “Horizons” will consist of 54 movies that have already been screened at other festivals. They will compete for the audiences’ award.
The festival is also to feature a documentary program, a program of Lithuanian films consisting of 37 films, of which 13 are to be premieres, and retrospectives of Korean director Kim Ki-duk and Lithuanian director Sarunas Bartas.
The festival’s awards are to be handed out at a closing ceremony scheduled for March 31.
