A recent study says men are impressed by girls who opt for beer over 'girlie' drinks. Let's find out whether our celebs agree.
How many times have you said 'Sorry, I don't drink' on a date and seen the man across the dinner table dismiss you as too much of a 'girlie' woman? Whoever said good girls don't drink beer needs to take a look at a recent survey.
It seems men get more impressed with girls who opt for beer over wine or other more 'girlie' drinks. The study reasons that men believe a glass of beer makes the women appear more sexy, confident, fun and independent. So, now you know that what you wear is not the only thing that makes you appealing to your man, but what you opt to drink does.
"I'd be impressed if the girl I'm dating can be herself and drinks whatever she wants. Even I don't drink regularly and spend most of my partying time with non-alcoholic friends, now that does not make me girlie!" says actor Jackky Bhagnani adding, "I guess girls do try to make an impression by saying 'no' to drinks on a date, but my advice would be do your own thing."
Actor Mohit Chadda also feels, "Alcohol can't be the criteria to impress anyone. I wouldn't judge the girl on a date with me according to what she opts to drink. There are other things that impress you in a person rather than her drinks."
Women, for their part however, would ditch beer for other options because they think drinking beer makes them appear unattractive. The study pointed out that just six per cent of women would pick a beer as their drink of choice on a first date with only one in ten women choosing to order a lager or beer when out on a date. Agreeing with this logic is actor Sonu Sood who says, "Women with wine glasses look classier than women with beer bottles in hand."
Women, however, disagree. "What has beer or wine got to do with a woman's sensuality or confidence? These are individual perceptions. I'd never try to impress any man with what I drink," says actress Divya Dutta.
Going to a pub and having a pint is a long standing tradition in the UK, reasons singer-actress Sophie Choudhry. "I don't think that men are impressed by beer guzzling women. In fact, most men I know prefer ladies to stick to wine, champagne and vodka. I know that men get impressed by a woman who knows her single malt," she concludes. Well, guess to each their own!
