Look good in the morning

Dark circles, puffy eyes, dull skin, messy hair — are just some of the apparent signs that you haven't got a good night's rest.

While getting a good eight-hour rest on a daily basis is hard, we can make ourselves look more presentable.

- A great wake-up tip is to make your skin brighter by splashing on some cold water. The cool temperature will constrict blood vessels, making your skin look smoother and more toned. Slather on some good moisturiser to reduce the dryness and plump up the skin. If that doesn't work, you can always try using a mixture of milk and ice cubes.

- Puffy eyes can be a problem. Use an eye cream that contains peptides. Leave it in the fridge overnight and then apply on your eye area. You don't want to end up looking cakey. So use just a dab of concealer to reduce those under-eye circles. Another great trick is to take an eyelash curler, curl them and enhance the eyes using good mascara. It will really open up your eyes.

- Your skin can look paler in the morning. Nothing would work better than some blusher to add a hint of colour. Choose a peach-pink tone to brighten the skin. A bit of shine will also help. Try and emphasise the cheekbones so your face looks less puffy.

- Your tresses are equally important. So what if you don't have time to shampoo? Use a bit of powder to get rid of oiliness. Dry hair can be treated with leave-in conditioner and a bit of serum.
