Jessica Alba has become choosy over film roles since welcoming her daughter - insisting a project has to "be worth it" to lure her away from her family.
The Sin City star gave birth to Honor Marie in 2008 and admits her private life now takes precedence over her Hollywood career.
The actress spends time seeking out smaller roles in movies made by directors she admires, rather than leading lady parts in huge blockbusters.
She tells Elle magazine, "I know I haven't been swimming in the deep end with some of the movies I've done. I wasn't trying to. I knew what they were...
"(Now) the time I'm not spending with my kid has to be worth it, so when I sat down with my agents after I was ready to go back to work, I told them: 'It's all about the directors'. Now I prefer I'm not the lead. It's a totally different approach - way better."
