Ways to keep the romance alive
it's not uncommon for couples to question whether they are still in love after being together for so many years. It's important to keep the spark burning and not become a habit for each other. Here's how to do it
Make a conscious decision to be in love. Try and remember the things that attracted you to your partner in the first place.
- Visit your favourite restaurants or hang-out spots and relive the romance.
- Make a list of all the things you want to do together. Then, take a day or two off from work and go do it. If you've only been planning for the future, stop and work towards making those plans happen now. Maybe you just want your partner to take up dancing lessons with you. This way you both can learn a new skill and spend more time together.
- Just because you have been together for a couple of years doesn't mean you stop complimenting each other. Tell him you like the new shirt he bought or how her new haircut suits her.
- For any relationship to work there needs to be some compromise. Don't make decisions without consulting your partner. Try and consider his/her point of view. You're a team in many ways, so act like one.
- Complacency can set in a long term relationship. Pay attention to your physical appearance. Take the time to work out and dress up for each other. It may seem trivial, but in the long run it does matter. No one wants a badly dressed date.
