i apply Hair Oil to my hair,Hair Oil Myths,i like hair oil

Have you always been under the impression that you need to oil your hair daily to make it thicker and lustrous? Well, a hair-oil 'massage' does wonders for your tresses if done the right way.
So, let's do a reality check on what's right and what's not:

Myths about oiling hair
  • It is not completely true that oil nourishes your hair and makes it grow thicker, longer and darker. Something applied to your hair externally can in no way nourish it or help it grow longer, for the simple reason that hair beyond your scalp is lifeless.
  • Hair-oil adds shine and luster to hair? Not true! The fact is only the oil on you hair shines (and your mane looks greasy) and not you hair!
  • Yet another myth is that oiling hair will stop hair fall. But the truth is that it neither stops hair fall nor does it accelerate hair re-growth. Oil on you hair doesn't indicate that it is healthier as the truth is that oil attracts dust and dirt and make your hair a breeding ground for infections.
What's true
Hair-oil does act as a scalp conditioner, but for this you need to keep the oil on your scalp for at least eight hours. It is essential that your scalp is clean before you oil it. Oil massages are good as they help you relax.

A good hair massage soothes the nerves and cools the brain. It is basically the massage that helps you relax and not the oil. It stimulates the circulation in your scalp and that is what helps you relax.

You need to have either a light oil treatment or a heavy treatment depending on you hair type. If your hair is of the dry type it is recommended that you go in for a heavy treatment.

"You could also try massaging your hair with warm oil , since warm oil helps absorb moisture better," says hair expert Jawed Habib.

Getting it right

Oiling you hair is simple; just massage the oil into your scalp gently. Do not be harsh as rough application of oil may break you hair and cause split ends.

Hair experts recommend that you leave the oil on your scalp and hair overnight and wash it with warm water and shampoo the next morning.

In addition you could also wrap a towel, after soaking it in hot water, around you head for about 15 minutes after the head massage.
