According to the 2010 Human Development Report which was released, on Thursday, by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Tunisia ranks 7th out of 135 countries in the long-term development trends for 2010.
Tunisia also ranks 81st out of 169 countries in the Human Development Index (HDI) for the same year and second on the African continent. The report credits Tunisia with a score of 0.683 makes it a high human development country. The Report on Human Development surveyed countries whose statistics are detailed and precise, and allow for comparison in these rankings which touch on 90% of the world population.
With a view to strengthening trustworthiness of statistics on inequality, disparities between sexes and poverty, the 2010 Report incorporated several basic changes related to both indicators and indicators and methodology.
