Gambia Stop the Crimes,Gambia,Gambia crimes,Gambia

Unwarranted crimes are becoming rampant in our society. Hardly does one read a newspaper these days without coming across stories of crimes of rape, theft, burglary, murder etc being perpetrated somewhere in the country. Suffice it to say, such headlines remind us that violent crimes are alarmingly on the increase in the country; a sharp contrast to what obtained in the past.
It is therefore not surprising that President Jammeh reiterated his firm stance against criminality in the country when he met the local government authorities at State House recently. He also stated that the laws that were enacted by the National Assembly would be implemented to the letter particularly in punishing perpetrators of crimes.
The president's reiteration of the country's zero tolerance for such negative social vices is indeed timely. There is no doubt that the officers and personnel of our national security apparatuses should be commended for their hard work and devotion to the protection of civilians. However, the sharp upsurge in crime and criminality and the presence of a catalogue of violent criminal cases in the courts is an awakening call.
We therefore hope that people will heed the President's statement and realise for ourselves that in every human society, there exist principles by which the people operate, conducting themselves in-line with some specific moral norms and values.

i n this modern era, nation states are guided by a supreme document called the constitution. This serves as a reference for citizens and non-citizens alike. It is codified to be respected, so actions that contradict the constitution are criminal and deserve punishment according to its dictates.
The Gambia is a country known for its peace and we must on no account allow undesirable elements to jeopardise the peace and stability we have been enjoying for long. The police are exhausting all efforts within their capability to track down the criminals in our midst.
The cooperation of the patriotic citizenry is crucial in the work of the police. A progressive nation is backed by a progressive populace. We should all perform our duties and responsibilities as citizens of the state who will nurture and foster a crime-free society for posterity.
