Skirt vows for Badminton babes!
Lawn Tennis is made colorful all over the world by implementing a skimpy dress code for women players. Taking the cue from tennis, Badminton World Federation (BWF) introduced a new dress code that comes into effect from May 1st. It requires all the female players to follow the code and wear skirts or dresses in Grand Prix tournaments to ensure attractive presentation of badminton.

The upcoming super series in India this month will have shuttlers going for both skirt selection and shot selection. Top seed players like Saina Nehwal will have to change her dress as she thinks that playing in skirts is not a big issue. Other player Jwala Gutta although wear skirts from long time she has a complaint on how could BWF pressurize the players on their clothes? "It is a personal choice. I think they are just trying to glamorize the sport. Perhaps sponsors should design nice dresses like what Mari Sharapova wears," feels Jwala. Foreign players from Indonesia too raise a complaint that skirts hamper the body movements during play. Beyond any doubts, this rule of skirt will attract huge crowds to women Badminton matches.

  1. Any sport event should be attractive and absorbing.Wearing skirt by female players is good and in no way hampers the game. Wearing skirts according to rules of the game must not be relaxed because of some useless narrow minded people's protest.
