3 THAY BHAI has released and hasn't quite seen a good response coming its way. Helmed by first time director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, the film is currently on patchy grounds. No wonder, one is tempted to think if the results would have been any different had Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the producer of the film, would have taken charge as a director.
'I stand by Mrigdeep; he knew exactly what he was talking about,' says Mehra who was glad to hand over the reins to Lamba, 'He came with the script and narrated it to me. It was his passion which bowled me over. He had good clarity in his head about the story, script and the treatment he wanted to lend it.'

Still, since Mehra was still scouting for the lead actor in his dream project BHAAG MIKHA BHAAG and had some time available in hand, didn't he ever feel like pitching in to check how the progress was being made?
'For 3 THAY BHAI, my ambition was limited to only being a producer. I didn't want to direct here,' Mehra maintains his stance, 'Mrigdeep was the captain of the ship and calling all the shots. We all at the unit took him very seriously.'
Commenting further on his thought around Mrigdeep wrapping up this small budgeted film in quick time and he himself taking a back seat for his other big projects, Mehra quips, 'I have never enjoyed quickies even in my college life so why would I do that in my films? I enjoy long love affairs; for me there is no mid way. Main chahoon toh bhi ek quick affair nahi kar sakta, woh mujhse nahi hota hai! '
