Product endorsements follow popularity and celebrities make good money out of them. Recently, milk beauty Tamanna filed a legal petition in Madras High Court against M/S. Power Soaps Limited for using her picture in promotion of their soaps even after expiry of the contract. Accordingly, Madras High Court Justice V. Rama Subramaniam granted interim stay till June 8th directing the company not to use Tamanna's popularity illegally. Actually, Tamanna signed the contract of one year with this company on October, 2008 to become their brand ambassador. As contract was not renewed after for one year, Tamanna gave her fame to another brand when they approached her. She signed the new contract with new company in January, 2010. Later it was brought to Tamanna's notice that Power Soaps hasn't stopped using her distinction and carried on using her photo on the soap wrappers and ads. Despite the repeated warnings, company was reluctant to stop that made Tamanna to file the suit legally demanding a penalty of Rs.1 crore for illegally cashing on her reputation.
