Almost every Bollywood actor ends up playing a cop at least three to four times in his career. It’s one the most formulaic character/ stereotype, apart from the role of a rich brat.
And the recent brouhaha around Dabaang proves that viewers too, never get tired of cheering typical cops who are morally mixed and mischievous. We list Bollywood's top 5 naughtiest men in khaki.
Naughty Cop: Anil Kapoor in Ram Lakhan
Anil Kapoor's tapori-turned-cop role in the typical masala-based movie Ram Lakhan was an instant hit with the audience. Lakhan’s unclean, unshaven and moustached look was so popular that it kind of became a style statement with his fans. His only motive after becoming a cop was how to become rich overnight. And of course there is no prize for guessing whether or not our mischievous policeman happens to fulfill his goal. One-two-ka-four anyone?
Naughty Cop: Arshad Warsi in Golmaal Returns
The character of an impish cop Madhav (Arshad Warsi), who would do anything to make Gopal’s (Ajay Devgn) life miserable eventhough he is in love with Gopal’s sister, is simply hilarious. He takes pot-shots at Gopal, arrests him and even threatens to kill him because in his own funny words he doesn’t love Gopal’s sister as much as he hates Gopal, “Mein teri behen se itna pyaar nahin karta jinti tujhse nafrat karta hoon”!
Naughty Cop: Akshay Kumar in Khakee
Shekhar Verma (Akshay Kumar), a smart and funny dishonest cop, is the only comical relief in this otherwise serious thriller. He doesn’t understand, rather doesn’t care about the difference between good and bad, right and wrong etc. Of course he has a change of heart at the end of the movie but not before he falls in love with a terrorist!
Naughty Cop: Nana Patekar in Ab Tak Chhappan
Yes killing 56 gangsters is not as much naughty as it’s scary but the way encounter-specialist Daya Naik (Nana Patekar) terrorises the bad guys while ranting about a 100 words in one breath is quite entertaining. He makes his own rules, breaks the laws whenever he wants, shoots thugs whenever he wants... in short a ‘do-gooder’ gunda in the guise khaki-clad cop! Is it naughty or is it nice?

The name Chulbul ‘Robinhood’ Pandey itself reeks of notoriety. Yes the movie has not yet released, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out that Salman Khan plays a role of a corrupt cop. By the look of the promos we are sure that the movie would be a hit and that’s why we have already included Chulbul Pandey as one of the naughtiest cops in Bollywood’s history.
