Vidya Balan starrer The Dirty Picture has now been cleared for prime time screening by the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry, after ordering several additional cuts in the movie.
The I&B ministry had earlier banned the TV screening of The Dirty Picture in April despite the Censor Board giving it a U/A certificate as they considered it too risqué to be telecast at prime time due to its bold content. At that time the I&B ministry suggested that the film be screened post 11 pm.
Under rule 33 of the Cinematograph Act, the makers of the film approached the Central Board of Film Certification and have agreed to the additional cuts suggested by the I&B ministry. The makers are believed to have made 59 cuts in the movie amounting to a total of 3 minutes and 10 seconds of editing.
