How Not to Feel Sleepy at Work

You wake up bright and perky to a new work day but come 2pm and the feeling has changed and how! Your lunch starts to settle and you are feeling like a quick siesta. The good news is the afternoon blues catch everyone, every other day.

So we got some iDiva readers to tell us how they beat the laziness post-lunch. Here are some of their tips...

1) Take a quick walk around your office building. Getting out of your chair and stretching those muscles will do a world of good to shake off the lethargy. Stay in the shade though, you don't want to land up with a headache thanks to the afternoon sun.

If you really can't leave your chair for a stroll, try a couple of desk exercises.

2) Switch on your iPod and play some peppy music that's bound to wake you up. Forget the instrumental tracks and love songs and try hip hop, rock n roll or anything that gets you groovy.

3) Coffee on a full stomach isn't such a good idea. But green tea is. Its moderate caffeine content will keep you awake while giving your body loads of anti-oxidants. What's more, it won't get in the way of your weight loss diet.

4) Nothing works like a fresh application of make-up. Splash water on your face. Apply moisturiser and complete with kohl and lip gloss. Voila! It's the ultimate perk-me-up.

5) Clean up your desk. Sounds strange, right? But believe or not, when the clutter is out of your face, it helps clear up your head too. Sift through the piles for junk that can be thrown away. Stash unnecessary files into the cabinet and arrange your curios and knick-knacks neatly. Finally, make a to-do list of all your post-lunch tasks.

Try these out and you are sure to drive the laziness away!
